Imagine if the person he shot & killed was a non-military personnel, by now the case would have been swept under the carpet, while this murderer will simply remain indebted to some top brass until some day when they would need him to repay the favour through carrying out some dastardly clandestine acts for them.

anything less than the death penalty is an injustice because this incidence was premeditated murder. he planned well in advance on how he would kill her and try to make it look like he was sad/depressed so that he might get leniency on the whole insanity plea angle.
