If the president cannot continue to govern due to ill health, or if it is medically certain he can't complete his tenure, the entire problem and sentiments surrounding how to have a northerner replace Buhari can be solved by Buhari himself. All the talk about Osinbanjo contesting in 2019 or not to give the north a chance can be settled by Buhari himself if the interest of the country is put first.

This is what I think the president and the vice president should do.

Osinbanjo should resign. Buhari should pick a northerner whom he trusts and has the confidence of the north as VP. Then within days Buhari should resign whether now or towards 2019 if he's sure of not contesting. Then the northern VP becomes president and chooses Osinbanjo as his VP. Thus, life continues like nothing ever happened. The northerner can contest in 2019 and 2023 and Osinbanjo will finally replace him in 2026.

It needs men who are ready to put the interest of the country first and are ready to Stabilize the polity.

If this reaches Fp , take note
1. Please stop replacing d.icks with joysticks , its an English word for Christ sake
2. Why do we have to swear to Allah on some threads , searing to anything is dumb
3. There are so MANY good topics on 'New' or 'trending' links , why don't they make FP? But dammy kranes last meal or gifty's new gown does?
4. Things that should be banned and replaced are Afonjas to Yoruba's , Flatinose to 'igbos' or read your bible now
5. Oh and that reminds me , we have a lot of kids on Nairaland now , sprewing sore unconfirmed News ,Insults as above etc except you secretly enjoy them ,do somthing about it
6. Push More threads that portray Nigeria in good light like Culture technology etc than things that make FP that make you regret been Nigerian (Lynching ,Killing Snakes dogs etc) we are not a barbaric Nation .
7. 80percent of FP topics a day are mostly Sad event or irrelevant gory things while fanciful intelligent post are left to rot on the op's profile,
8. There are some things that shouldn't even be posted ,you ban erotic theads which are actually fun and educational yet push gory images to fp (Legs cut off, Accident Dicected Images etc) f.uck viewers descretion a video link would do , Thank you , Cater for your online followers Seun

If this arrangement will see the light of the day,

I have a strong feeling we may have President Buhari choose Magu and Osinbanjo or Daura and Osinbanjo.

You can give your suggestions too!

This is not sensible.

You believe that politicians keep their words?

Weldone OP. You've suggested a beautiful nonsense.
Beautiful because in your child-like, innocent mind, you believed that would stabilize the polity.
Nonsense because your naivety was displayed by not knowing that such move would rather hit up the polity.
No offence, though.

Not an issue of keeping word. The crucial part is for the VP to resign first. Since the president is seen as a man of integrity, then he's appointing someone he trusts who will reappoint Osinbanjo. Both Osinbanjo and the north will have themselves preserved.

Thank you sir.

It is understandable why some wouldn't love this idea. They prefer chaos in the event the president can't continue till 2023.
