But state security is not the job of the foreign minister for goodness sakes. That's the job of the mayor (or chairman) of that municipality (LGA), the local police inspector, state governor and possibly the minister of the interior, not the job of tge foreign minister.

Well in his defense, action is better than words. What's the point of making official statements when stuff like this happen in Nigeria with alarming regularity.
If the govt was truly serious about curbing this violence then they should have left policing to local communities or local govts in the first place cos this psthetic federal police model we have is dysfunctional.

The foreign affairs minister has done the right thing required by diplomatic conventions and protocols. To do otherwise will be deemed an hostile act.

In mid-April 2014, chibok girls were abducted and there was no immediate reaction from the FG for many days afterward even though international community was commiserating with Nigerian government. Some weeks later in June 2014, some Israeli teens were kidnapped. President Jonathan immediately wrote the Israeli government in the following words

"....I assure you that we are in solidarity with you, as we believe that any act of terrorism against any nation or group is an act against our common humanity. We unequivocally condemn this dastardly act, and demand that the children are released unconditionally by their abductors."

The kidnapped teens were later found murdered. Are you saying GEJ should have kept quiet on the Israeli abduction then since he himself had a hot case of unresolved (recent as at then) bigger abduction?
