Requirements for Npower Device Collection

N-power device collection continues as distribution gets to more states across the country. N-power listed three requirements for the collection of the tablets. They include: BVN, Pen, and ID card. While these may seem simple, collecting your BVN card or print out from banks may take different form.

Let’s take them one after the other,

Bank Verification Number

Your bank verification number has every financial detail about you; not just that it also contains everything about you. That’s why it’s sensitive. That’s not where we’re going, but the guidelines differ from bank to bank.

GTBank: Guaranty Trust Bank requires you to write a request letter with your ID card, and submit at PIN Collection desk for processing.

Our Take

Since BVN contains all information about an account holder, it sounds odd for a bank like GTBank to request a customer to further write letter before he gets print out of his BVN.

Above all, an A4 is the print out you’d get after passing through the process of writing and signing.

GTBank could have simply request for BVN and run a check on the true owner of the account. But the bank management says you’d have to write a letter. If that’s what they want then you’ll have to do just that to use it for your device collection.

Wema Bank: The process of getting your BVN print out from Wema is simple: Visit the customer service desk for a BVN print out request. However, one of the volunteers says charges apply. It should be free, though.

Pen

There will be documents for you to sign at N-power tablets collection centre. That’s why a pen is among the requirements for device collection.

Identification card

Your Community ID card isn’t what N-power requires here, because that’s only valid within your community. Valid Nigerian ID cards include:

Drivers’ license
International Passport
Voters’ card
NIMS

N-power Device isn’t for sale
The cheapest of the tablets currently being given out FREE or at subsidized rate to the first batch of the programme should costs between N65, 000 to N80, 000, the government deserves commendation for that.

The gadgets, which is supported by the Bank of Industry (BoI), contains everything about the Social Investment Programme (N-power), training in various categories ranging from health to teach, to agriculture.
They also contain free tech training and empowerment that are not ordinarily free on some of the online programmes offering the same topics.

The value of the gadget in the market is likely to make some beneficiaries to put it up for sale. Some volunteers had even attempted to sell their device. And the information has gotten to the N-power headquarters in Abuja.

In a communiqué on its social media channels, N-power strongly warned volunteers to desist from such plan, saying, “Once caught, you would not ONLY be dismissed from the Programme (without any appeal), you would be blacklisted from other FG Social Investment Programmes and a Lien would also be placed on your Bank accounts for the full refund of the asset cost to the Bank of Industry.”

The warning reads:
It has come to our attention that some of our N-Power Volunteers are attempting to dispose their device, we urge you in your best interest not to do so.

Recall that N-Power is a Learn/Work/Entrepreneurship Programme of the Federal Government’s National Social Investment Programme for unemployed Young Graduates between the ages of 18 – 35.

Please note that the N-Power Devices currently being distributed to our N-Power volunteers were secured through an Asset Finance arrangement for 20months with the Bank of Industry (BOI) by the Federal Government National Social Investment Programme.

As such the devices are to aid the continual learning and development of our volunteers which seeks to enhance their employability – ready for the Labour market when they exit the Programme after 24months.

These devices are also Work Tools as it would aid the discharge of their community functions in your primary places of assignment be it at the Public Schools, Primary Health Centres or the Agriculture Development Farm Settlements.

In addition, these devices contain global knowledge content contributed by some of our Global partners such as Cisco, Google, Microsoft etc on ICT, Leadership & Entrepreneurship for their continuous development.

To this end, volunteers are warned that if you dispose your devices, don’t utilize the learning content on these devices, or you are found absent at your Places of assignment, we have devised varies means to gather such information and data.

Once caught, you would not ONLY Be dismissed from the Programme (without any appeal), you would be blacklisted from other FG Social Investment Programmes and a Lien would also be placed on your Bank accounts for the full refund of the asset cost to the Bank of Industry.

Npower Device manufacturers: Company Analysis of brains behind the tablets

If there is any programme initiated by the Federal Government that deserve commendation its N-power job programme, which is targeting over 500,000 Nigerian youths. 200, 000 people are already in its payroll. Though, it’s designed to last for two years, the technology embedded in the programme has further makes it unique.

While unveiling the commencement of the programme in 2016 FG already had plans to give out “N-powerment” devices to successful volunteers, which led to the commissioning of nine tech firms to produce high-powered tablets for the volunteers. Unfortunately HP later pulled out.

So, who are the brains behind N-power Tablet Devices?

Financially powered by the Bank of Industry (BoI), N-power devices that were produced and currently being given out to volunteers include: Samsung Galaxy Tab E, AfriOne 2-in-1 Transformer, Techno Droid 10, Zinox Zpad tablet, Floss Signatures, Speedstar windows, RLG tablet, and Brian N-pad.

Let’s take a look at the profile of the manufacturers of the N-power device tablets.

1) Speedstar Windows N-power tablet: BETA COMPUTERS Limited

The name might not be popular among some of the N-power volunteers, but BETA COMPUTERS has integrity in the area of technology solutions. The company has been in the technology market since February 1989, when it was incorporated. When you talk about technology solutions in the government circles, BETA Computers will be among the list.

Beta Computers took off as an Information Technology Solutions Company providing services in the area of Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP), POS and accounting, Networks- WLAN,LAN,WAN, IP & internet, Access control & time attendance, E-learning etc.

You must have worked diligently well to be partners to some of the world’s leading brands like HP, IBM, DELL, CISCO, INTEL, MICROSOFT and SAGE. BETA COMPUTERS has gotten that leverage because of its hands-on technology solutions.

The company is a good choice commissioned to produce Speedstar windows by the N-power.

Beta Computers doesn’t only supply N-power, it’s also the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of SPEEDSTAR range of personal computers accredited by the Federal Government of Nigeria for purchase by all her Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

2) Afrione 2-in-1 Transformer: Afrifone Limited

Afrifone Limited is one the firms commissioned to produce devices for the N-power job initiative of the Social Investment Programme  (SIP) of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration. It’s the manufacturer of 2-in-transformer, Gravity Z1, and Champion…a company located in Nigeria, producing gadgets for world’s consumption.

Its device is one of the best beating other established names in the smartphone industry.

Incorporated in 2016, AfriOne is a subsidiary of London-headquartered Contec Global Group.

It plans to penetrate Nigerian market, and subsequently the African mobile assembly market by establishing a manufacturing plant in Lagos. The first factory has been established in Oshodi, Lagos.

The aim of the tech firm is to align with the “Made in Nigeria” initiative of the present government and generate employment opportunities for the Nigerian youth.

The company presently has four assembly lines, and determined to provide jobs to about 500 indigenous workers at the rate of 120 workers per assembly line. Afrifone Limited will also indirectly empower 5000 youth through its “young entrepreneur” and “Afrifone distribution” programme specifically aimed at creating employment through creative ideas in the technology.

Afrione takes pride to be the first mobile, tablet, laptops, and consumer electronics manufacturer in Nigeria and in fact in the whole of Africa. The company’s state of the art facility is spread out over 20,000 sq.ft. including R&grin and testing laboratories in Lagos State. The facility will be able to produce 300,000 products a month on its four production lines.

As a pioneer entity we see this as just the first phase of an opportunity to standardize the use of technology in Nigeria by offering affordable innovations and removing barriers for large-scale adoption of advanced technology and make it accessible to everyone –hence the tagline Afrione-One for everyone.

On April 21, 2017, Lagos Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and other dignitaries was at the formal launch of the smartphone maker.

“We model products that utilize cutting-edge technology, reflect a modern, sleek design and integrate the latest and arguably necessary financial technology such as mobile banking, all with the goal of facilitating connectivity among Nigerians and the rest of the world.” -said Founder and CEO of AfriOne, Sahir Berry.

During his tour of the company’s facility on September 5, 2017, Nigeria’s minister of communication and technology Adebayo Shittu was quoted by Guardian Newspapers as saying, “We will prevent, or at least, discourage the continuing practice of making Nigeria a dumping ground for all kinds of products and services.

“I have visited factories like this overseas. So When I see something like this in Nigeria, I want to put my full weight behind it and to ensure we promote it so that government would take it as its own project.”

Lekan Akinjide, AfriOne’s director of strategy and government relations, said the company’s products, which include laptops, tablets and mobile phones, can compete favourably with top players in the industry, especially with the added advantage of an indigenous end-to-end supply chain.

“It is the same quality, it is the same benchmark, it is the same testing that our products go through but with accessible servicing and repairs.”

We wish AfriOne the best in Nigeria and Africa as the company is already to create a viable economic cluster that will include suppliers of the different components it needs.

Afrifone is a tech company that has great potentials in the Nigerian and African tech market.

Buhari’s 360,000 jobs for youths ready soon
October 7, 2017
Vanguard News
BY Nwafor Polycarp
Central Bank of Nigeria governor , Mr Godwin Emefiele has explained how
President Muhammadu Buhari’s promise to provide 360,000 jobs for youths nationwide, will be actualised.
Emefiele unfolded at a stakeholders’ meeting the operational framework
for the Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme (AADS), under
which the jobs will be created.
He said AADS was targeted primarily at unemployed youths between the
ages of 18 and 35.
Emefiele said through the scheme, a minimum of 10,000 youths in each
state, willing to engage in sustainable and profitable activities along the agriculture value chain, would be employed and trained.
“I believe we are on the verge of something very significant with the AADS.
“ This scheme has been designed to create an ecosystem with the active
participation of the public sector, state governments and the private sector,’’ he said.
Emefiele said the objectives of AADS included the creation of economy of scale of farming on contiguous land.
“It will also assist farmers in embracing modern farming practices, such as use of tractors and irrigation schemes.
“It aims to reduce cost of production with availability of high quality inputs at competitive prices and lowering delivery cost of extension services,’’ he explained.
Emefiele said that state governments were expected to provide contiguous arable land, basic infrastructure, more efficient extension services, training and mentoring of the beneficiaries.
“The CBN on its part will provide financing at single digit interest rates.
“Beneficiaries are not expected to come up with any physical collateral but they must be grouped into formally registered cooperatives and cross-
guarantee each other.
“All loan beneficiaries must also have valid Bank Verification Numbers
(BVN), which will be registered on the National Collateral Registry and
used to track repayments and also blacklist any defaulters.
Emefiele said that with the release of the operational framework for the scheme, engagements with stakeholders would be continuous to ensure that the scheme began during the dry season cultivation of the outgoing year.
Also, the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, said the Federal
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development would be providing technical support for the project.
“We will be fully involved in the land clearing aspect of the project. In some places we will also be building dams and lakes to ensure all season farming.
“We will also provide advice because we have a team of experts at the ministry on crops, soil testing and the right kind of fertiliser so that when these young people go into agriculture, they won’t lose money,” he said.
The Governor of Kebbi, Mr Atiku Bagudu, thanked the Federal Government
for recognising the significance of agriculture in economic development.
“We could not have recovered from recession as early as we did if not for the intense agricultural intervention initiated by President Muhammadu
Buhari,’’ he said.
Bagudu also stressed the need to involve financial institutions, which banking models allowed them to support agriculture, for the programme to succeed.

training. Ones we get attendant for the training and you are absent, we
put your device on hold until you prove otherwise. All training must be
concluded before device can be given to Nagro volunteers.

and we also encouraged you to explore and read those content because
they there for you. Also remember the device is not yours now until after
the 24months.

desist from it because it is Government property. Please stop, we have
tracker we can use to track you down. Device in transit for the following

2017 shortlist
There is no list for now. We use random algorithm that helps us select. Within the month of October, you will be notified.

Find out more>>>Random Algorithm

What is Random Algorithm?

It’s an advanced technology used in a highly competitive application. What then is random algorithm?

“Computers generate random number for everything from cryptography to video games and gambling. There are two categories of random numbers — “true” random numbers and pseudorandom numbers — and the difference is important for the security of encryption systems.

As complicated the technique might be, we’re very optimistic that N-power will also put a lot of things into consideration in making sure that the shortlist is fair to every geo-political zones, states of the country. So, we believe that N-power Headquarters is on top of the situation.

Npower Device Distribution and Collection begins in Osun State October 7

N-power Device distribution and collection has begun in Osun State today, Saturday, October 7, 2017. Some of the volunteers who got collection SMS were directed to report at the Military barrack in Ede. Military must have been designated as pick up location centre for security reasons.

Osun State has now joined more than 20 other states that are currently collecting their Npower tablet devices across the country.

Npower tablet devices contain global knowledge content contributed by some of our Global partners such as Cisco, Google, Microsoft etc on ICT, Leadership & Entrepreneurship for their continuous development.

Other states where device distribution is currently going on are:

Lagos,
Federal Capital Territory, Abuja
Rivers
Sokoto,
Delta,
Ebonyi,
Enugu,
Kaduna,
Kano
Kogi,
Niger,
Imo,
Adamawa
Benue
Bauchi
Jigawa
Akwa Ibom
Zamfara
Plateau
Ondo
Abia
Ogun

When will N-power device distribution get to my state?
According to the Presidential Aid on Job Creation (N-power) Mr. Afolabi Imoukhuede, the device “Those in Bayelsa, Taraba, Gombe, Yobe, Borno, Kebbi and Nassarawa state, your device on the way and you will get it latest this weekend.”

N-power device is sponsored by the Bank of Industry (BoI), and the job initiative programme had issued strong warnings to volunteers not to attempt to sell their gadget for monetary value.

“Once caught, you would not ONLY Be dismissed from the Programme (without any appeal), you would be blacklisted from other FG Social Investment Programmes and a Lien would also be placed on your Bank accounts for the full refund of the asset cost to the Bank of Industry.”

The cheapest of the tablets being currently given out FREE or at HIGHLY subsidized rate to the first batch of the programme costs between N90, 000 to N120, 000.

Existing volunteers teaching evening classes.... Put your mind at ease, your attendance won't work as there's no provision for that as of now...
Your device automatically mark your attendance daily between 8am to 2pm, Monday till Friday.
Keep your fingers crossed
