So they expect Google to use their platform to promote their rivals? It isn't a day's job that Google made themselves the search engine of choice worldwide. They worked their asses off technically and otherwise to achieve that confidence amongst people. All of that won't be sacrificed in promoting bing and the likes. Isn't it about business anymore?

This is the only reasonable and logical post made concerning the OP smiley

oh dear, you clearly don't understand what's going on. if this is allowed to continue you wouldn't have any options available. Had Microsoft been allowed to kill others while elevating it's own internet explore -- remember how slow and horrible it was ? -- there wouldn't be Firefox, Opera, or even chrome.
The US regulations forced Microsoft to allow other browsers to be installed on their windows OS they dominated the market.
Anti trust is meant to protect You and me against so called restricted platform. Now imagine Chromo don't allow you get YouTube videos while Firefox do. Alternative is important.

Google does a lot of manipulative behavior an nobody questions them especially in Africa

Why should they make it impossible for someone to delete their "follow come" APPS?

More are still coming.... EU IS ALSO planning to slap €5billion on Google for Android monopoly and and anti competition

I think it's a retaliatory move on America for fining billions of of dollars on Volkswagen

It will be a sad year for Google as America and Russian govts are also investigating google

I don't think it has anything to do with fine given to Volkswagen, when it comes to consumer protection I give it to EU. More especially when it comes to net. Imagine all the fuckery about Net Neutrality going on in the US, that won't in EU. Most service provider can't get away with it, for EU unrestricted access is something they take seriously unlike the US politicians that will bend backwards to the whims of corporation while the masses are hung out to dry.

Even Apple, Microsoft have taken hit from EU etc. See list of some of the big hit

Huh. What did you just type? Were u expecting Google to just accept? Of course they will put up fight. Where does most of Google profit go? Yea. The USA. Let Trump call d EU to make a deal. This is d price u pay for fighting globalization. U can't eat ur cake and have it. This looks more political than business. If Google like, make dem pack comot from Europe, they will promote a substitute. Trump makes no one feel sorry for them. So US has been raking this much from Europe and silly Trump keeps shouting Nato. By the way, Sergei and Page were probably in support of climate change because they realized Trump was putting them in deep poo. Merkel no wan hear oh.

That was a political move by European commission, they're on a revenge mission for volkswagen and British bank fine by the US.

So are you saying Google did nothing wrong by being anti-competitive, or are you saying the EU should have done nothing to protect their consumers?

Exactly. That's the consequence of having a useless government.

Already, most mobile phone companies have introduced free roaming for both data and calls within the EU, but naija we are still begging for them to stop spamming us with promo texts every day.

If really this is what google has done, its really unfair. Before your android device can be effectively connect you must have all links connected to google emails.

But the fined is too much, am sure if they pay such amount, it will slow down their efficiency.

We do not yet understand the need for anti-trust legislations on "Knowledge Economy" companies, because we did not understand them when they were being applied to Standard Oil Company(which produced the Seven Sisters) and Bell Labs (which produced the Ma Bell telecom companies).

That is why we would readily welcome the founders of monopoly internet companies as heroes in Africa, if they come visiting. I remember that Netscape browser lost out to Internet Explorer.
