My Ogas,

I have finally installed my panels and they've been up for a couple of weeks, I get somewhere between 4500 and 5000Kwh everyday,
I have 6 X 200W Monochrystalline panels (Vmp-37, Imp-5.35), I connected all of them in series parallel(made a mistake initially) and Max Amps I get is somewhere between 22 and 29 at peak sunlight (this is usually at 11AMish for me). I used 6mm stranded cable between the panels and controller, the distance is about 15m. I used a Xantra 60A MPPT Charge controller.

I have a couple of questions:

Would I get more current if I connect the panels in strings of 2 or 3?
The KW is usually see in the charge controller menu is low, highest ever is maybe 700W, even though current can be as high as 25A, what's the significance of this?
If I want to install a DC circuit breaker between the panels and the charge controller what size should it be?

It is quite expensive compared to normal one but offers upto 70 % less energy consumption and there is no kick to the gen/inveter everytime compressor starts but the loading is smooth

@ Netotse: Whats the Voc of each panel?
Total must not exceed 150Vdc else you'll damage the CC.
You can connect them 3x2.

That is too much series connection bro. I don't know the capacity of your controller vis a vis the voltage of your battery system. The rule of thumb is that total vmp should be about twice the size of your battery. That is the most efficient configuration. Sending about 330v to your controller is .. overworking it at best I doubt they are many controllers that can handle such. If your battery system is 48v then a 2:2:2 and if it is a 24v system then a 3:3 would be your best arrangement. If you overwhelm your controller with volts.. more than 3 times your battery volts then lots of energy would be lost to heat in the conversation to a lower dc volt.. and u will end up over whelming the cc killing it before it's time. Gurus in the house would add their advise.

I have one of these and they're cool, they don't use the same refrigerant as other LG ACs and they work with a modified duty cycle so it doesn't come on and off like the other ACs.

Connecting all in parallel would give u a total V of 30 which is also not optimal especially the wiring 6mm u are using. U would be experiencing serious voltage loss. Doing a 3x 2 is your best config and would put losses to 3-5% between PV and cc.

WE HAVE HAD TWO CLIENTS FROM THIS FORUM WHO HAVE INSTALLED OUR GENNEX 5KVA 8V (3000W)MPPT INVERTER, ALSO NOTE THAT OUR INVERTERS ARE THE AXPERT BRAND THAT ARE FAVORITES IN AUSTRALIA AND SOUTH AFRICA

I am one of the clients.
Just rounded up the installation yesterday.
I had to taper down the AC charging current from 60A to 20A due to the current small battery bank (client would change battery bank in few months time). Adding solar is easy with up to 150V max input.

Thank you.

63 A breaker is what I use. You max at 24 V should be about 50 amps. The MPPT steps down the voltage and steps up the amp. I will increase the voltage and reduce the amps. Also look behind your panels and see what the maximum serial connections for your your panels. I am sure you have exceeded them by a bit.
As someone said your cables are too thin too push that amount of amps over that distance. Increase the voltage and reduce the amps

Hello guys, I must commend every contributor here for a job well done. Bravo to those who freely share their knowledge and demystify these things. I need your help with this please:

Present status:

I have 2Nos of sukam 1400VA UPS inverters, also I have 2Nos of multipower 12v/200ah deep cycle batteries, the house is presently powered by 1 of these inverters connected to these two batteries. The inverter is charged by a TEC 5.5kva gen which is run for 4hrs a day, some times PHCN also shows face. The inverter is mostly used at night and this is the normal loads.

1. 3nos of standing fans ( at least I know one of them is 30w)
2. 8 nos of 15w energy savers ( puts all off when its sleep time)
3. one laptop + five phones

Thinking of Solar:

I like what I've read so far here, so if am to go solar, I will like to stop the use of gen, hence I will need to power the freezer (150w), and a 46" LED samsung tv. If it will help me, I can power the freezer for some hours and put it off.

Question:

What will be my best way of going about achieving the solar dream if I have a ceiling of #250K?

cc Demerciful

Please, can anybody help me review the Prag 2.5kva inverter or direct me to a link where i can get review or more info about the inverter. I found out that mine doesnt charge at certain input voltage, even as high as 157V and what is the importance of the 10A and 20A button behind the inverter with respect to charging current or voltage . Most times, i have to use a stabilizer before it charges..

2. the voltage reading and battery level on my CC is always different from the battery level on the Prag inverter. WHich reading should i trust most? Thanks
