Anambra State Gov­ernor, Willie Obi­ano has directed well-wishers to channel monies earmarked to spon­sor advertorials on the buri­al of his late mother, Chris­tiana, to charity through Christy Obiano Foundation.

A statement issued by the governor through the Com­missioner for Information and Communication Strate­gy, Ogbuefi Tony Nnacheta ,said the directive is in ful­fillment of the last wish of the deceased mother.

According to him, such funds in honour of the de­parted matriarch should be donated to the Christy Obi­ano Foundation for the poor.

“Governor Willie Obiano and the Obiano family of Aguleri, in Anambra East Local Government Area, have advised friends, fami­ly members, associates and well-wishers who intend to place condolences on the pages of newspaper, tele­vision and radio stations, in honour of their departed matriarch, Mrs Christiana Obiano, to consider donat­ing such money to the Chris­ty Obiano Foundation for the poor, in fulfillment of her last wish,” it added.

The statement further advised that the donation should be made through Fi­delity Bank.

The burial of the late moth­er, who passed on June 2 at the age of 90, has been fixed for Thursday, July 20, 2017. Born into the Azodo Mana­fa family of Eziagulu vil­lage in Aguleri, Mrs Chris­tiana Obiano embraced Christianity at a very young age and grew up to become one of the major pillars in her local parish of the Catholic Church.
