Lagos CBD Introduces New Cleaning Initiative by LasgidiOnline(m): 6:51am On Jul 18, 2017
The Lagos Island Central Business District has introduced a new cleaning initiative to ensure continuous evacuation of refuse within the area thereby sustaining cleanliness within the environment.

Speaking on the initiative recently, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts, Mr. Agboola Dabiri said his office introduced the new policy to complement the efforts of other agencies of government whose duties are to cart away refuse from the markets and streets.

Dabiri noted that the Lagos Central Business District which is essentially a business enclave generates a large volume of refuse, therefore all hands must be on deck to ensure that the waste generated is evacuated regularly and promptly in line with the new cleaner Lagos initiative introduced by the State Government.

The Special Adviser, therefore, implored traders and residents on the Lagos Island to key into the initiative by cooperating with the Central Business District and the State government by desisting from indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the streets and walkways.

He assured that the new initiative would ensure that the beauty of Lagos and its aesthetics are preserved and maintained at all times.

Speaking on behalf of operators within the Lagos Central Business District environmental cleaning initiative, Mrs. Munirat Bello, a trader in Balogun Street, said the policy has helped in evacuating refuse regularly and has been a big relief from the hitherto environmental nuisance constituted by the indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the streets and walkways.

Recall that the State Government, through the Office of the Special Adviser on Central Business Districts, recently inaugurated the market sanitation task force to oversee sanitation in all the markets in the Central Business Districts with a mandate to ensure that refuse generated in markets is regularly evacuated.
