North East: Nigerian military liberated over 25 towns during Jonathan, new book reveals

…Presidency picks holes in it

The newly-released book “Boko Haram Media War: An Encounter with the Spymaster”, has listed over twenty-five major towns and cities recaptured by the Nigerian military during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan before the final handover to President Mohammed Buhari.

The book, authored by Yushau Shuaib, revealed: “At the twilight of Jonathan’s administration when Sambo Dasuki was the National Security Adviser, dozens of towns and cities in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states were recovered and confirmed with video and pictorial evidence through military press releases.

“Some of the liberated towns include, but not limited to: Abadam, Askira, Baga, Bama, Bara, Buni Yadi, Damboa, Dikwa, Gamboru-Ngala, Goniri, Gujba, Gulag, Gulani, Gwoza, Hong, Kala Balge, Konduga, Kukawa, Marte, Madagali, Michika, Monguno, Mubi, Vimtim among other communities with pictorial and video evidences provided by the Defence Headquarters.

“In one day alone, April 30, 2015, at least 234 abductees (women and children) were rescued by the military who had stormed sections of the Sambisa Forest.

“A clear testimony to some of the accomplishments was the official DHQ release dated March 16, 2015, with reference No: DHQ/ABJ/901/32/DDI and titled: “Troops Finally Rout Terrorists from Bama and Last Stronghold in Yobe.”

The book in other sections, revealed glowing tributes paid to detained former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki by some current top officers of the Buhari administration.

Jonathan has been seen in combat fatigues congratulating troops after the recapture of Baga

It disclosed how a top Buhari’s adviser commended Dasuki in an opinion article on May 1, 2015, for ensuring successes of the military operation against Boko Haram.

In another chapter, the book disclosed how one of Buhari’s spokespersons had predicted that Dasuki would face stiff challenges as Fulani man from North-West against Kanuri people of North-East who would frustrate him after his nomination by President Jonathan as NSA.

However, the book has been attacked by the Presidency over a claim in its foreword by Dasuki where he said Nigerian military intervention in the North-East in 2015 enabled the last general elections to be conducted in the area.

A statement by the Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu said: “The residents of the areas… were able to vote, not in their hometown but in refugee camps in other parts of Borno State under a special arrangement made by INEC.”

Garba, who claimed that he had not fully read the book before making his official statement, said “We will have to read the entire text to offer a full and adequate response”

In a written piece in 2012, the said Buhari’s spokesperson even recommended and listed some Kanuri people that should have been considered for the appointment rather than the Sokoto Prince. The official had claimed that the appointment of Dasuki as a Northerner might produce the direct opposite result of appeasement of the region.

According to Buhari’s pubilicist “the Boko Haram terror movement is dominated by Kanuri boys, despite the recruitment of volunteers from areas outside Borno and Yobe States, adding that Dasuki’s appointment ignored the historical rivalries between the Kanuris and the North-west or more directly, the Fulani hegemony.”

The book also discloses how security and anti-corruption agencies monitored movements of cash in local and foreign currencies by the two major political parties, APC and PDP to win primaries and main elections in 2015.

facts are sacred...

some APC goons may wish to be history revisionist, but facts are facts.

the BH war, whatever the motives behind it, was a sad one. but efforts of the past administration must be appreciated while supporting the drive of the present.

God bless the good people of Nigeria.

may we never once again, experience the disasters of wars for selfish reasons & parochial interests...

Why allowing the boko haram to take charge of the 25 towns?

Prevention, they say, is better than cure!

Mediocrity is not meant to be celebrated!

I thought the cabal under GEJ created the BH, how can they liberate a problem they created?

Now the cabal under Buhari have created a heavy problem of economic strangulation to the masses! They would still use the media to say they liberated the people from GEJ's economic reforms?

What kind of public sympathy do successive government really want? This is so clear that each government of the day would lambast the former with reckless abandon in other to appear better! What a wishful thinking Nigerians are going through hoping things would get better..

The question should be...
how many was lost in his admin, how many was reclaimed...
how many was left in Bk H command... and how many has Buhari lost.

if after considering all those, a foreigner (non-wailer/ non-BMC) says he did a great job, then he did, if he says he didnt, then he didnt,.. lets always look at all sides of things, not just one side
... let's always reason Deductively/Objectively

Story......Story........... Story
Once upon a time....time..time

There once ruled a man called Goodluck
His arrival was touted to bring Goodluck
He tried to liberate a nation from her padlock
But he was always seen as a man who talked bullocks.

Then he said, when I leave you'll remember me
For all my works which thou sees as nil
Like thread on a reel, the evidence will spill
and I will look back and belch like a man that had a fill
I am Jonathan, all what I did is real.

Liberating AOs is relatively easy compared to holding them. Especially when the occupying force has no artillery division or air force. Boko Haram employ guerrilla tactics, they can't hold a position when confronted by a well organized army. They can only scram. The Nigerian army needs to beef up it's mechanized divisions to enable them chase down terrorist elements and negate the threats once and for all. And when they use helicopter gunships, or sweet lord. It will be a massacre!

Why did Boko Haram come into existence in the first place?

That is the real issue.

Why is Islam (a creed of over 1000 years of barbarity to its name) seen as the solution to social ills in the north? It hasn't eradicated social problems anywhere else, why would it work in west Africa?

The truth was obvious... The same northern leaders who berated GEJ for wanting to wage war on d north wen boko haram shld have been decimated and flushed were still d same morons blaming his govt for doing nothing.. D war was won in d last months of d previous administration and d northern elders and PMB himself should blame demselves for allowing it linger on... I expect sarrki and his fellow BMCs to lead d charge in derailing dis thread by deviating from the topic and truth...

You know why GEJ lost the election? It's because APC know how to use media for their propaganda better, and GEJ Is too gentle despite all accusations.

If GEJ was doing his job, there wouldn't be 25 towns to liberate as those towns should not have been lost in the first place.
