Why aren't white people concerned about women's rights in the Western world? Women in Africa actually have more rights than women in the West.

Because they hate Islam and they'd use ANYTHING to attack it, they should be concerned more about their women:they seem like the ones who have lesser rights.

in dubai, you can't get a girl pregnant before marriage or you will be arrested and be sent to jail

white women don't have to deal with that, the west is much better the arab world

whether you like it or not

It probably is, but it is not better than many countries in Africa in treatment of women. You saw how Do***.T**ump referred to women. Also, the fact that there still has not been a single female president in the U.S. but there have been several in numerous African countries.

In the West, women are seen as objects, at least in Dubai, they respect women to the point that they should not be getting pregnant before marriage (call me old fashioned but not old from an age perspective). I think it's important that women are in a financially stable relationship before even considering having a baby, so in a way what the UAE is doing is a good thing.

So do you consider the porn industry a good thing to be in? I do not. As much as I admit (I sometimes watch porn), I would not marry a woman from that industry or even consider her.

Domestic violence is a worldwide thing, it happens everywhere in the world.

Wow, something refreshingly different...........finally.

In the Middle East, if anyone dares to disrupt the structure put in place by Islam, they do so at the pain of death. You can't compare the subjugation of women there and here. They desperately need advocates from around the world. In Africa, we are an eclectic bunch. We largely operate under supposed progressiveness when it comes to women' lib. Our women are free to speak and fight for what they want. Our laws aren't so unfriendly to women; what we need to battle are the unwritten social and individual biases. And the only people stopping us are we ourselves.

Exactly, women in Africa (most African countries) have tons of freedom.

The number of Female presidents in the United States vs. the number of female presidents in Liberia cheesy
The fact that women in the United States are paid less for the SAME EXACT work than their male counterparts.

@bolded, so does it mean that in Africa they pay women equally with men?

If they do the same kind of work, yes they do get paid the same. The problem with Nigeria though is more about ethnic groups in which if someone is from (insert ethnic group here) he/she is more likely to hire someone from the same ethnic group.

e.g. Yoruba showing preference to Yoruba, Hausa showing preference to Hausa, and Igbo showing preference to Igbo.

Yah the land of Saudi Arabia may be beautiful, but the people who run the country have no idea what they are doing.

So you want the white folks to come solve whatever problems we have? or do you just think Africans are incapable of sorting out their socio-cultural issue without the help of white people?
Are you that far gone?
Maybe you should start campaigning for the return of colonial rule then.

If the people are tired. They should "liberate" themselves on their own, without external influences or manipulations.

The western world has always been guilty of catalyzing change in places, long before the inhabitants of such places where ready for a change.

You can read Just and Unjust wars by Micheal Waltzer on theories of liberating people who are not ready for liberation.

Summary: When people are ready for change it will be swift and relatively painless.

What you are saying sounds like what happens in the Carribbean or the West (U.K., possibly France, United States, Canada, etc.)

Not in conservative Nigeria, men are not going to be grabbing women's stuff.

living in Africa is still hell fire

we should have equal attention like them

many Africans are sending their kids to dubai, and all those strict Arab countries to school despite their harsh laws

looks like living in Africa is much worse than in Dubai

My sis everything the western world does is sratetegic
The western world supports women right in middle east as a way of battling extremism and terrorism in the middle east
Muslim foundamentalist are the target here because they are a major branch of terrorism in the middle east
The west believes the fundamentalist are against women rights
So supporting women right will give the west a strong friend that will help in battling the ideology of fundamentalist and fighting terrorism

Let's first distinguish between the economic conditions of a place and the progressiveness of a place regarding women's liberation. I do not think people leave Africa for the Middle East (Dubai included) for the sole purpose of escaping female subjugation. They would go to Europe or The Americas for that. They do, however, leave Africa to escape the harsh economic climate, because (yeah) Africa is 'still hellish'. It's not comparable.

That said, when it comes to women's liberation, I am not saying that we aren't oppressed; even the West hasn't gotten to the promised land with the feminist agenda. I am saying that we can do something about without without fearing that we'll be stoned in the streets for raising our voices. We have women in the work place, we are not confined to our homes by law or religion. It is our responsibility to use our voices to better effect.

What we battle isn't our laws; we use templates from liberal countries (of course the northern states are exempt) What we fight, largely, is the prejudiced whispering from societies lot, which we are too fragile to withstand. A woman is afraid to want things that attract the 'feminist' label; she doesn't want to antagonize the men. We are going back and forth with it, harboring our internalized phobia. It's not laws that restrict us, it's our need for male approval. And who would have sympathy for that?

African women have to be unapologetic in their commitment for women's causes. They cannot be shriveling up whenever a man threatens that she would be single for the rest of her life if she doesn't drop her advocacy for feminism. We have to have thicker skins that that.
