Why Did Christians Retain "Demonic" Names In The Calendar? by lilliesboy(m): 11:57pm On Jul 25, 2017
Saturn or Saturnius is the Roman deity of plenty, agriculture etc; planet Saturn and Saturday were named after it. Jupiter, Venus, Pluto etc, are also names of Graeco-Roman deities that predated Christianity and Islam.

Sol's Day (Sunday) and Mani's Day (Monday) were also named after the Scandinavian twin deities - Sol & Mani; the former (Sol) was the lover of Glaur (glow). ALL were deities, mythological beings. Even the four cardinal points/compass (i.e. North, South, West and East) were name after four Scandinavian dwarf-deities namely Nordri, Sudri, Austri, and Westri. The list goes on and on.

Many Christian apologists would say the medieval European Christian missionaries MERELY retained those names to avoid "confusion" and easily convert the indigenes but did not worship them. So, what "confusion" did the mediaval Christians wanted to avoid by retaining demonic names on their Calendar and observing such days? Why retain the things of the Devil - are the names of demons more important than the will of yahweh/jesus? And why did not they retain the ones of Africans they came and saw, but rather demonized and distorted them? Why did they come to my Ogbia Kingdom - Kolo Town, in particular and changed "Ake's Day" to Wednesday? Pure hypocrisy!
