We Must Plan A Nigeria Without Crude Oil – Osinbajo by DrinosBlog: 4:30am On Aug 05, 2017
The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Friday said the government had to redefine a post-oil era in Nigeria, noting that the country must adjust to realities.

Osinbajo said this while delivering his speech at the Course 25 Graduation, National Defence College, Abuja.

The Acting President spoke on a topic, ‘The Battle has changed’.

Osinbajo said technological advancements and changing realities had helped the Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East to be able to spread their ideologies through the Internet and propaganda videos.

He noted that the Nigerian military, therefore, needed to be fortified with the cutting-edge technology to be ahead of the insurgents.

According to Drinosblog reports, He said,
“We have to redefine a post-oil Nigeria. With the changes and advancements in technology, we have no option but to adjust our realities to them.

There are now hackers who could do far more damage than conventional arms. Here, once degraded, the Boko Haram terrorists have resorted to cowardly acts of suicide bombing.

“Terrorists now have access to the quick release of propaganda videos, which was not possible before. Even with the Internet, fake news also influences election outcomes.

The battle has changed and our military must be at the cutting edge of technology. It is much easier to neutralise the terrorists than their ideology
“We must not wait until things have fallen apart before we show our people we care. We must prepare ahead before conflicts reveal themselves.”

The Senior Special Assistant to the Acting President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, laid out Osinbajo’s speech in a series of tweets on Friday.Drinosblog Reports.

Oga, this is time for implementation, not planning. Look at the Saudis, they have already reached advanced stage of transforming from an oil driven economy to an investment driven one.

We should should not be talking about planning at this late hour.

Go and tell the south west governors to begin to plan how to foster an economy without oil. It is not by all these their generating huge IGR propaganda. Now that they are getting allocation from the FG, they need to make good use of it by investing largely in agriculture. They need to stop selling lands just anyhow and building useless high rise buildings that will be empty because of high rent rates. The southwest always claim they made money from cocoa back in the days. Why have they stopped cocoa farming? Why can't they continue to invest largely in cocoa farming and save the money while getting allocation from the FG. They have enough fertile lands in osun, oyo, ogun, ondo and so on. The youths are wasting away claiming they don't have jobs. The economy is not stable, people are shouting restructuring and going separate ways. What preparation are the useless south west governors and leaders making. What happens to southwest if we go back to resource control? The northerners are mainly into agriculture and sell their products to every nigerian at the moment. Tomatoes, yam, rice and many other foods come from the northerners. NO human being can live without eating. The southwest governors and leaders should stop speaking grammar and use their heads to have a plan B. The lands are there wasting away. Use the govt money and huge IGR you claim to be making to invest in agriculture , cocoa especially since that's what was used to develop the region in the past. A lot of experts have been saying oil will soon be very much less useful. what plans do these people have? We need to start making moves instead of noise and grammar. free FG money won't be for ever. It will end soon.
