1. Northern youths yesterday had a meeting with Igbos in Kano over the quit notice order given to Igbos in the region. Representatives of Igbos in all the Northern states, as well as leaders and members of the Arewa Youth coalition were in attendance.

2. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, on Friday, paid a personal visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at Abuja House, London.

Buhari’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina, who confimed this in a statement, said Welby and his principal were friends, who share deep respect for each other.

3. Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Friday named new members of the State Executive Council. Fayose had about a month ago dissolved the Ekiti State Executive Council.

The governor re-appointed six of his commissioners who were earlier sacked, according to a statement by Fayose’s Special Adviser on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka.

4. Several persons have been killed in a fresh crisis that broke out in Aladja in Udu Local Government and Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri South West of Delta State.

The warring communities reverted to violence barely 24 hours after promising Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of the State to sheathe their swords during a meeting on Wednesday, with security chiefs and community leaders from Gbaramatu and Ogbe-Ijoh kingdoms, as well as those of Aladja community in Udu Council.

5. Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari, to fix the problem he created in the Nigeria Police Force, when he fully bounces back.

The monarch claimed the rot in the Force was created by Buhari when he was Head of State.

6. The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Friday said the government had to redefine a post-oil era in Nigeria.

Osinbajo said technological advancements and changing realities had helped the Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East to be able to spread their ideologies through the Internet and propaganda videos.

7. The Department of State Services (DSS) is set to invite three ex-Ministers and some other prominent Nigerians for questioning, following their announcement by a secessionist organisation, Biafra Zionist Federation (BZF) as cabinet members.

Some of the people listed as Ministers at a press conference the group held in Enugu include former Minister of Power, Prof Barth Nnaji; former Minister of Information Prof Jerry Gana and another former Information Minister, Labaran Maku.

8. The National Leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark, on Friday urged militants not to resume bombing of oil installations and declare a Republic of Niger Delta on October 1.

Clark said PANDEF was now satisfied that the Federal Government meant well for the region and was also disposed to dialogue with the regional body.

9. Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has slammed Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom for saying that all Nigerians are sick because the president is not well.

Fani-Kayode in his response called the Governor “the rubbish the APC has given us”.

10. No fewer than 10 people have died, while 7, 342 others were reported displaced by flood in Plateau between May and July this year. According to NEMA, 832 villages were submerged, while 1,153 houses were destroyed by flood during the period.
