Has it occurred to anyone that the processes of selection of football players is more rigorous and meritorious than the way ministers are appointed and allocated portfolios?

For instance, no player is called to camp if he's not doing well in his club. As for ministers you can be called upon just because you know the right people or based on where you come from.
