Lagos And The Special Status Quest. by lawani: 11:21am On Sep 08, 2017
If Lagos were given a special status, the place will become a federal territory like Abuja, controlled by a federal minister. Mrs Oluremi Tinubu is at the forefront of the struggle for special status and hence more federal money for Lagos. My own opinion is that Lagos does not at this point need to be spoon fed anything. The Population of Lagos as inherited from Nigeria is enough for Lagos to generate revenue therefrom, before Nigeria is dissolved. No Need for special status or more federal monies for Lagos.

Is the Niger delta a Federal capital territory for receiving 13% derivation What Lagos is asking for is 1% of its own VAT which it deserves just as much as ND deserves her own derivatives.
Never talk about spoon feeding and Lagos in the same sentence. As of now Lagos generates more income than it gets in federal allocation and still contributes about 40 billion VAT to the federal purse. No, Lagos is not being spoon fed but Lagos is spoon feeding others.

then fight for your VAT instead of asking for special status! but the VAT is from companies that produce for the whole nation not lagos alone where those coys are hqd. if Nigeria breaks up, those coys will open office hqs in other places in the east and north and pay vat there, meaning that VAT does not really belong to only lagos.
