Government Secondary School In Bayelsa Plead Government To Come To Their Aid by Omuneizzy6(m): 7:49pm On Sep 22, 2017 |
The Government secondary school Opuama in bayelsa state has pleaded on the government to rescue them, A Post by the local government chairman Comr. Clement Ovokeroye Paul on facebook wrote. Dear Moni Love, we must be sincere to ourselves. Like every other Governor, Gov. Dickson has tried his best, but what makes you think he has done well in education sector that you now scored him 100%? The Dickson led restoration government claimed to have invested over 50bn in the education sector and most schools in rural our communities are in a sorry state, yet. In a saner society where selfless people are elected into positions of trust, a whopping 50bn would be enough to transform virtually all the public schools in Bayelsa state to an enviable citadel of learning. Back here our schools are without facilities, Public school structures are dilapidated, teachers salaries are owed up to 5 to 11 months, etc, yet we keep scoring such government 100%, knowing that government have squandered over 50bn in this sector. What went wrong? I quite agreed that governance is continuity and every responsible Government must make efforts to complete projects initiated by previous administrations, particularly such projects that when completed would change the living standard of our people, but then, how has the Dickson led restoration government fair in the area of completing projects initiated by the previous administration and putting them into proper functioning in the State? There are plethora of abandoned projects in Bayelsa state today because the Dickson led restoration government abandoned critical projects initiated by the previous administration, thereby setting bad precedent for others to follow. Some of these key projects are the Tower Hotel, 500 bed hospital, the Glory Drive Rd, etc. This government has set bad precedent for government to follow, I must stress. You talk about Lagos State and AKS. Let me leave you with a question; How many cities are there in Lagos and AKS and what steps have our governments taken to create other cities in Bayelsa state even as the State capital is lacking characteristics of a modern city. What has the Dickson led government that promised to make Bayelsa State the Dubai of Africa done to create other cities in the State? Abi na only one semi city Dubai get? |

Omuneizzy6:one there is nothing like opuama local govt. so I expect the l.ga in question to be that of brass. two the challenge of developing That Nembe-Brass road is for the completion of the basambiri- brass road which is valued at #100billion(100km including bridges) education facilities in bayelsa state is not an easy feat we practically in need of at least 500 primary and 300 secondary schools in order to reach out to native ijaws and nembe, sagbama children and a school like that of amaechi would cost #150million add it all up and you be scratching for where are going to get the money! this is now excluding the need for a whooping 4000 teachers to come on board! to give gov. Dickson 100% will be overreaching that I agree but as a state they must start somewhere. three to build a Dubai or Hong Kong urban model city in bayelsa is not hard.it can be done in 4 years if the govt is ready but a city project is not "mouth" to build featac alone will cost trillions of naira.does bayelsa state have "trillions of naira for city project". if you are ready hala me! state building is not a day job it require a serious resolution to achieve what you see in uyo aks took 16 years! |
