House of representatives leader, Femi Gbajabiamila has reacted to a campaign held against the controversial NGO bill by the Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission(NHRC), Chidi Odinkalu.

Odinkalu had earlier released a viral video condemning the bill, stating that it was 'Totalitarian' and when passed will hamper the operations of religious bodies, humanitarian agencies as well as the esusu system in the village. In the 5 minute video, Odinkalu urged Nigerian to rise up and resist the bill.

Meanwhile, Gbajabiamila in a statement on his social media page on Friday said;

"Shame that people would conjure up what is not in a Bill just to justify their position. Nowhere in the Bill is there any reference to churches or mosques or old students' associations. Wonder why

We must not whip up sentiments that mean much to Nigerians. Religion

My final word. Where there are reservations or any seeming legislative overreach please send such to my inbox and it will be looked into at the public hearing".

Meanwhile, PoliticsNGR has gotten photographs of the whole controversial bill sponsored by Umar baba Jibril. See them below;

The main issue, in my opinion, is trust. The National Assembly have been most often dishonest with ulterior motives in their acts.
I do understand that in other climes, NGOs activities are "guided" or "regulated" to some extent.
It wont be wrong to put some form of regulation on the NGOs.

Gbaja,
Are you this silly?or you are still on hangover?
You think here is a Caliphate where everything must come from one supreme leader?

Tomorrow,you people will alternate it the way you like,we already have a tyrant now,you want to create a Monster again abi?
We have seen Presidents throw away the rule of law,now it is to clamp down on NGOs,into 1 so Government will call them for a parley and give them cash the way they have done bloggers and the Media abi) shocked
Where all NGOs,are bunched in 1?What happened to the CAC?

You are given them a regulatory commission to be regulated by whom again?
We have too many public institutions and you people want to create more so that tomorrow they will be your political wing,and we begin another war,on whether a Christian or Muslim should be the Head.
We are talking off scrapping some Ministries like the Pilgrims Board,and you are duplicating,be careful.

Who registers these NGOs in the first place,why don't you go strengthen the CAC that gives them a license in the first place?

See,please Sir,concentrate on that money you are eating there,and stop acting pontifical.
