I was one of many who was very critical about operation Python dance. I felt was uncalled for in a democratic government. But prior to OPD, we had alot of people talking anyhow and sounding war drums grin cheesy. Hate speech and threats on entire ethic groups was too plenty in the air. "All igbos should leave the north before october 1st"
"All hausas should leave the south before october 1st".

People where jumping out of nowhere making bold statement that would make even Kim Jong Un jealous. This one pass police power.

But after the military launched OPD. Everybody humble. I hear they are now taking the operation round the country. With operation crocodile smile about to kick start in the west.

In all honesty a majority went to far with their statement especially Kanu. The agitation was supposed to be meant to better the lives of Ndigbo but his steady use of vulgar words spoilt everything.

Any individual action that threatens the lives of millions is not a agitation. Ndigbo should avoid such unfruitful actions.

This is from an igbo man who have decided to see the funny side from the last 2 months.

So in other words, we need the Army to prevent us from killing each other? So whats the point of 'one Nigeria'?

So if one man uses hate speech, people get slaughtered elsewhere? So Nigeria has not been able to rise above hate speech to the point of not killing themselves?

Then Nigerian unity is pointless.

From your submission, the bloodshed would most likely emanate from the East and not the North in respect to the Oct. 1st deadlines right? Hence the decision to 'python jig' in front of Kanu's house; the capital 'city' of Biafra.
You really know your country in and out. grin
And theaArmy did a good job of bringing the bloodshed date forward.

Following your line of reasoning, will it be safe to say that if we have 'one Nigeria' and then Nigerian unity is 'pointful,' we won't need laws, rules and regulations, the police and other security organization to guide our actions?

Yes, one man's hate speech can make "people get slaughtered elsewhere" no matter how united they were. It all starts fron eroding the love, trust and confidence we have one for another and then bitterness sets in and finally... this has been proven over and over.

If you'll be honest, you'll agree that the OPD was neccessary and it was for our good (not bringing in extrajudicual killings if there were any).

Opration python dance was unnecessary and illegal. The constitutional role of the Army is not to fight crime, that is the job of the Police. Military invasion of a civilian area or someones house in a time of peace is not permitted in law.

If someone uses hate speech, it is the job of the Police to investigate and prosecute, it is not the duty or job of the President to send the Army after the person.

If one persons hate speech can cause other people to be killed in other parts of the country then that country should split up into the people who dont kill other people over hate speech.

There are worse things than hate speech out there, boko haram are killing people, herdsmen are on the rampage, Niger Delta militants are destroying things cult killings are on the rise but the government is more concerned about what people said or did not say.
