They should be taxed. Make them pay 99% tax.

People will pay tithes, give money for 'thanksgiving' and all manner of senseless offerings but will shirk taxes and then cry about lack of progress.

Yes cos churches in Nigeria is a business venture. Mind you, if churches are taxed mosques too must be tax even those practicing tradition like herbalists yea really cos its business venture people seek help from them and they accept money in return, to me that's Business.

Yes oo. They have to be taxed. Before you judge I am a Christian but the way these pastors milk people dry these days made me stop churching. Infact mosques should not be taxed but Churches should pay tax from the whole funds they milk off their gullible members...just imagine a church University being the most expensive and it's the same members that built it...yes Churches should pay taxes afterall even the Bible say that you should acknowledge govt too.

i am a follower of JESUS CHRIST,i pay tax from my income.i cant be taxed double.church offerings and contributions are not profit.however, any biz operation outside church operation can be taxed alone.

One question please. Why do the Government imposes tax? I want to believe dat, its simply because they don't want any institution to be bigger or richer than the Country. Most of this religious houses are richer dan d country and soon enuf dey mit out-bound dere boundary. Wen religious leaders buy cars, airplanes worth millions of naira if not dollars den I tend to ask will such cars or planes take dem to heaven?. Did I not call myself a servant of God? Wat is d accumulation of wealth for den. How many does Jesus or Prophet Muhammad has? Maybe u dnt understand what the individual is trying to say. Let me explain.
A govt worker always has his tax deducted from his income by the govt. If that worker is a christain he may decide to pay his tithe or give freewill offering frm his remaining at his place of worship. The church cannot pay tax frm that same contribution since that has been handled in the first place by the govt. Simply generalised that to every christain worshipper.
Secondly a church is a non profit organisation just like an orphanage or a voluntary organisation since the general aim is not to make profit. If a leader decides to buy jets, erect mansions with the church funds then the church in particular has the sole right to either question the leader or let it pass. The management or mismanagement of church fund just like every other non profit org.has absolutely nothing to do with the govt.
