The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday gave the court bailiff five days to serve former President Goodluck Jonathan with the subpoena compelling him to appear in court with respect to the trial of a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh.

The court also ordered the counsel prosecuting Metuh, Mr. Sylvanus Tahir, to persuade the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to explore administrative means of ensuring that the Department of State Service produced the detained former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, in court on October 31.

Upon applications by Metuh, the court had issued two separate subpoenas on Jonathan and Dasuki, compelling them to appear in court on Wednesday.

But both men were, however, absent from court on Wednesday.

Justice Abang noted in his ruling on Wednesday that without the two summoned witnesses appearing, the court might not be able to make any progress in the case.

He also noted that while Dasuki had been served with the court subpoena, Jonathan had yet to be served so could not be blamed for failure to attend court on Wednesday.

But the judge noted that singular attempt by the court bailiff to serve Jonathan personally with the witness summon at his home in Abuja, was not sufficient.

He therefore directed the bailiff to take further steps to ensure personal service on Jonathan within five days from Wednesday.

He said if after five days, the bailiff was unable to serve Jonathan personally, Metuh, who was the one who applied for the subpoena, should kick-start the process of serving the ex-President through substituted means.

Humans and hypocrisy. Be deceiving yourself. Where in the world have you seen any ex president act as a witness?

The worst or should I say best case scenario is a lawyer acts on his behalf or give a statement but that as it may, you are there saying no sacred cow and you can't go and flex your muscles in front of aso villa and tell Buhari no sacred cow.

Abanging okon is a mental case. The revenue of the country will plumet soon when those Niger delta boys come out to protect their own. If I were Jonathan I will never show up in that court

Buhari's administration is hell bent on disgracing Jonathan. But it will be an insult to the South-South, nay Bayelsans, if they keep looking as if it doesn't concern them while the only person that had ever broken through the Glass Ceiling of Nigerian politics to become a President is dragged through the mud and shamed.
For God's Sake, your. land produce the Oil that is being used to run this corrupt cesspool called Nigeria.

Subpoena koo; Poenasub nii. Zombies, Did Buhari appear before Oputa panel when he was summoned?

Former Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), declared Friday he would not appear before the Human Rights Violation Investigations Commission (HRVIC) unless the law establishing it was reviewed.

He gave the condition in an interview on the Hausa Service of Voice of America (VOA) monitored in Kaduna.
Oputa Panel was a reconciliation, not a court. You can't force anyone who wasn't willing to appear. This is a legal court, you don't have much of a choice. So, no basis for comparison.

Education sometimes could be powerless in the face of deceit.
Right from the day one, even before charging him to court, Metuh had it clear that Jonathan gave the order that the money should be released to him to help him (Jonathan) carry out an assignment. So, Metuh wanted Jona in court, nothing to do with criticism.
Jonathan himself has not been charged for corruption. They gave Metuh options of plea bargaining, when others were taking the offer, he was forming Bruce Lee saying that he merely ran an errand for Jonathan.
