... so there was this other friend of mine with who was a heavy smoker and addicted to partying and clubbing. There was no weekend we never went to party. From Fridays to Sundays we were usually no where to be found. Girls from other schools use to come look for us just to invite us to their parties.

So on one Sunday after a weekend of partying and heavy smoking, i mean real heavy smoking, my friend decided that it was time we quit smoking and focus on only partying so that we no go die quick, quick grin
But that was not the first time we have attempted to quit smoking but we always failed and in fact, anytime it happens like that and we resumed the habit, it was always worse than before. So I decided it was time we go see baba for help.
And so we chose a day to go there. I think it was on a Monday after classes......

To be contd....

Please pardon all the typos and any other mistakes in the story.

Also, this is a true story 100%

On our way there, we decided to go and eat at a restaurant owned by an aunt of my friends neighbour and also his close friend back in the hood. His name was Henry.

Now there was this Nokia symbian phone my friend bought. that phone was reigning that time. You can twist the screen to be facing different angles and directions. After we got there and have eaten and paid our bill, my friend said we should relax a lil bit so he can charge his phone.

After some hours of intensive argument, we decided to live. We got to the place and started the journey of climbing the mountain. About half way there, I asked my friend to bring out his phone and play us some music, that was when we realise that the phone was missing. Immediately my friend became very worried because it cost him quite a fortune to buy that phone. I tried to assure him that nothing was going to happen to the phone since it was at his neighbour's shop that he plugged it but my guy would have none of it and so we decided to go back.

On getting to the restaurant, we checked where he plugged it but it was not there. We asked Henry about it and he said he never saw the phone. He then said maybe some of the customers that came to eat after we left might have stolen it. We used Henry's phone to call the number but it was switched off.

This one no be small matter again. Well as usual, there is an all seeing eye that will help us know who stole the phone. So we decided to take the matter to baba grin grin
...change of mission. We forgot about the initial reason we wanted to go to baba' place for....

Contd...

On getting there, we met baba attending to one mobile police man and one NDLEA officer that came all the way from kogi state to seek for charms that will protect them from bullets and also to WASH their eyes so that they will be able to identify any suspect that is smuggling drugs. I quess that was to enhance their performance so that they will rise to the top of their careers. And so we sat down to wait.

After about an hour, they came out of the tent with red, red eyes and left. So baba came to sit with us and exchange pleasantries...

Baba: wetin carry una com here? I know this one (referring to me) but this is not the guy you came here with the other time

Me: yes he is not the one. We came here to seek for help concerning this my friend phone that was stolen today.

Baba: is it because of the phone that you people turned back on your way here earlier on?

Instantly, my friend was like shocked shocked shocked

Friend: (whispering to my ear) how did he know?

Baba: angry do you think I came here to play?
You people wanted to come and see me initially because una want to stop smoking.

By this time, me and my friend where just smiling cheesy like akuya.

Me: yes, you are correct sir..

Baba: OK, I'm going to help you. I will give you something give it to your girlfriends to put it inside your food and eat it. She must not eat from that food oh, even if na one spoon.

Friend: OK sir

Baba: you should know that after you eat that food, the smell of cigarette, even if you are not the one smoking it will irritate you to the extent that you will start vomiting when ever you perceive the smell for about half a minute

Me: yes sir, we would like it. But what about our missing phone?

Baba: no! It is always one thing before the next one. Abi na the phone una go prefer?

Friend: yes sir

Baba: ok then after we find who steal ur phone then we can talk about the other issue.

Me: OK sir

Baba: oya make una dey go meet Henry and tell him to give you your phone

Friend: cheesy cheesy that is all? How much should we bring?

Baba: just gimme the dry gin and the pepper you brought. Also give me that #5

Friend: haaaa! That is all?

Baba: yes. I like this your friend (referring to me) but my problem with him is he only come here with other people case not his own.

We knelt down and handed what he requested for and also thanked him very well. Then we stood up to leave

Baba: if Henry denied that he did not steal your phone, carry him come here and if he refused to follow you here, don't force him just come back here. He will use his own leg to find this place by himself.

We got back home and met Henry, he was dressing up to go and play ball.

Friend: Henry, where is my phone?

Henry: (looking confused) I don't know. Shebi we looked for it together.

Me: are you sure you are not the one that that carried it? Can you swear to that?

Henry: I swear on my parents grave, I don't know anything about your phone.

Friend: ok then let's go somewhere. You are coming with us.

Henry: I'm not going anywhere with you guys. I am even late for training, let me be going

That statement really got my friend angry and he started to pull Henry by his trousers. But I stopped him from doing that and reminded him of what we were instructed to do. And so we turned to leave.
As we were about to enter a bus, we saw Henry coming towards us.

Henry: you people should know that I've told my aunt that I'm going out with you so don't think that nobody will know that we were together if anything bad happens to me..

Me: don't worry, nothing is going to happen. We only want you to come and clear your name.

So we left together. Inside the bus, i couldn't help but think of the possibility of Henry being innocent since he swore on his late parents and has also agreed to come with us. Maybe na holy spirit of God wan to cause confusion so that we will know that baba's powers are not strong. These were the thoughts running through my mind till we got there.

Finally, we arrived there and met baba sitting outside and playing music from his Walkman (the disc type not tape) he removed his ear piece as well approached.

Baba: you people are back. Sit on that bench but Henry, sit on the floor.

Henry hesitated, maybe because he saw the baba is a small boy and that got baba really angry to the extent that his Walkman fell down. Quickly I stood up and boot Henry to the floor. Till today, i don't know why i did that

Baba: Henry, i want you to tell your friends friends you are sorry and they should forgive you.

Henry: (hesitates again but i think he suddenly remembered what just happened when he was asked to sit on the floor) guys i am sorry please forgive me.

Baba: ok that is good. Now got home and give your friends their phone

Henry: i have told them i am not the one that stole it. I swea.....

Baba: (interrupts him) Henry, do you know where you are?

Henry: no sir

Baba: this is not a place you can come and lie. So give them their phone so that this issue can just end like this. Nobody is going to report you to police. Ok?

For where, Henry still denied. Meanwhile, me i was really enjoying the drama.

Baba: you are still insisting? Ok, all of you stand up let's go to the backyard

Lol you remind me of my secondary school days, when men were ruthless hustlers, we would steal anything from our parents and forgiving relatives(we called it runs) sell anything, do collateral with anything, just to throw some parties and enjoy the fame and rep of being called big boys, it got to a stage that some of our friends went spiritual like the op, luckily for some of us,our evils didn’t catch up with us, some ended up behind the bars, some developed their game(you know if u know). That’s some 9years ago

Gofwane:
Looking back at the life I lived, I can only thank God for being alive. Before the incident, I never and still don't believe in juju as in it can't harm me.

There was this friend of mine whose dad was a commissioner before he died. This guy got used to money to the extent that his mum gave him 2.5m for school fees and other expenses while he was in St Caritas university. But we used that money and ran to exile some where in jos, squandered the whole money on girls and booze. Since then, the mum stopped giving him money.

So one day, he stole the mum's gold earrings and necklace to go and sell, but unfortunately the items fell out from the text book he hid them, right in the front of the mum just as he was going out. So the mum padlocked her room but the determined boy still broke in and stole it while she was at work.

That day, we went and sold everything to the amount of 200k (we later learnt that the original price was more than double of what we sold it) we went back home and prepared for another exile again. That was how we disappeared with the money and spent it on what we know how to do best - girls, drugs and booze. We really enjoyed ourselves not knowing what was waiting for us back home.
