Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has paid no less than N129m for 300 pages of a national newspaper to publish names of civil servants that have been paid their salaries in the state. DAILY POST gathered that a black and white advert page on a national daily newspaper costs about N430, 500. Gbenga Olorunpomi, the Senior Special Adviser on New Media to governor Bello, made this known on Saturday through his Twitter handle. According to him, the advert which began last Thursday will run till January, 2018. He tweeted: “If you wish to know the truth about Kogi State’s salary issues, pick up a copy of Leadership newspaper today. Publication began last Thursday. “We are publishing 300 pages of to prove to the world finally how much we have been paying in wages and who are being paid since Jan 2016. “It is 300 pages long as it covers 18 months. This will be a monthly exercise. You can also find the full list on the state government’s official website. “The outstanding salary arrears in Kogi State Civil Service are in 4 categories.” http://dailypost.ng/2017/10/29/governor-bello-spends-n129m-publish-names-paid-kogi-workers-newspaper/?utm_source=dlvr.it_dp1&utm_medium=facebook

Good decision. You cannot continue to accuse him on the pages of newspapers and social media and expect he would not defend himself. If you see your name on the list of those paid and you actually haven't received such, you can sue for libel and defamation. |
