Winners of the just concluded 9th Anambra State Sports Festival went home in anger after they were given no prices for their efforts to become gold, silver and bronze medalists.

According to the winners who spoke to Diamond Celebrities reporter in Awka, They alleged that the governor brought out over 41m for this event but the state commissioner for youths and sports misappropriated the money or better still siphoned the money.

Most of the offended medalists promised not to vote for the Governor if this is not sorted out. According to DC reporter, the sports that were not given any recognition at the closing ceremony not to talk of any prices are; Scrabble board game, Chess board game, Judoka, Karate, Wrestling, Boxing and many more.

The event started on 30th October and ended on 2nd November. These participants left all they were doing and came to grace this event which they were begged to come and participate in, only for them to be disappointed at the end of the whole thing.

Most participants who sustained injuries during the contest are now using their money to treat themselves.. During the closing ceremony, the commissioner in her speech said that her plan and also the government’s plan is to ensure that youths earn a living through sports, hence with this development, we guess the case is now the opposite.
