So so pathetic. The same Ogbeni that reduced the school fees why he was in government is now increasing the fees again when he has not less than 12 months that he will leave the government house. Ogbeni government will surely be judged by the good people of osun state.

1.Germans pay 50% of their taxes to guarantee free education

2.Back in 2013...ASUU was forced to accept N1 trillion in extra funding instead of the 3 trillion originally agreed in 2009.The past govt paid N200bnof the amount in 2014, then stopped paying in 2015.This govt does not have extra 200bn yearly to pay universities.

Hence fees are high.

Or shebi you go dash govt half yer salary for free education? Or do you have N3 trillion or more just for universities over the next two years?

but the Nigeria government has the 3 trillion naira now Hmmmmmmm. How much do they budget for education in 2018. They will always be deceiving us with their figures. God will help us in this country.

1.They, the govt don't have that money. Neither did the past govt.

2Budget for 2018 was N8trillion naira. Are you saying we give universities N3trillion of that money? Just universities? Nothing for primary or secondary schools?Or polytechnics? Polys too need just N3trillion too yearly to keep fees low

3.Oil prices have fallen, so revenues have fallen.

4.Either fees go up...or taxes go up to as much as 50% of our annual salary incomes.

Agreed the govt is corrupt...but universities are money drinking machines. You don't get world class for cheap.

Check the school official website and come back to apologize

http://uniosun.edu.ng/index.php/2017-2018-schedule-of-fees-for-fresh-students.html

Checked and there is nothing to apologize for.

Not all students pays tuition fees.

It is free for all Nigerians in federal universities and free for all State indigenes in all state government own institutions.

Yes! We are not surprised. Infact very soon public universities will be competing with christian controlled exorbitant private universities in a bid to justify their wickedness. That is the game plan.

this is what you will always be saying when the oil price in the international market reach $150 per barrrel. Nigeria government has the 3 trillion Naira for education, but they will never invest in education sector. They will only invest that kind of money in the white elephants projects. Our leaders aren't serving us at all. They are just after their pockets.

If you want to fund universities in Nigeria adequately....we need to provide 3 trillion naira in EXTRA MONEY in the budget just for them annually..ie 3 trillion for universities alone...not for primary, secondary or polys

Do you get the problem now, and why GEJ could not pay ASUU that amount in 2013....

And because of that, children from the lower and middle class homes shouldn't have access to education? That's like a million steps backwards.
And most of this your phantom 3 trillion naira if realised would still end up in individual pockets.

So, how do we fund education in Nigeria?

Left to me, fees should be 10000 per semester.

But that would leave many universities unable to fund new facilities, new research, and make improvements.

That is why fees have to go up.

It costs at least 600000 yearly to train one Nigerian undergrad student.

Look....we have no options. We need improved facilites.

So...we either keep fees low....and watch as the rich use their foreign degrees to take over the labor market....or we raise fees, and encourage funding re scholarships, grants, etc.

So....what is your alternative?
