Good Morning Everyone. Once again, i had like to appreciate all those who have always sacrifice their time in giving a swift response on this platform. May Almighty God reward you all. Have always been a silent reader here and sincerely this page has helped a lot of people in saving money and stress. I would like to make an enquiry about the transit of an I-20. The school offers a regular post which is free of charge and it gets to the destination within 4-6 weeks as stated in their website. It also offers an option of express mail which gets to the destination within 3-5 business days but expensive (40k). Am considering the regular post but would like to ask if i still have enough time to pay for SEVIS fee and book an appointment for visa interview hoping that the I-20 arrives latest 1st week in June as the the school resumes in August. Pls, how much is the SEVIS fee? Thanks in anticipation. |

Hello the brilliant gurus of nairaland, This is my first time here, please i need your help, please i have done my first degree (Biochemistry - GP 2.6/4.0) and Masters degree Environmental technology GP 4.1/5.0) currently studying my Phd(Doctorate) now, but i truly want to study another MSC in environmental engineering , environmental sustainability or environmental studies related courses. I have gotten my Toefl-IBT result already - score 90. please my questions are these: 1. I need relatively cheap but good USA Science Graduate schools, which cheap schools do you think i could apply in USA doing an environmental related course? I thought my siblings would help take care of the school fees but i will pay from my pocket, i have kept 2million naira down now in my bank account for the fees/tuition. I will still transfer more for this purpose. 2.Can i still meet up the Fall Batch(September). 3. Since i have done my Masters already hope the VO wont wonder why masters again, well the answer is that i want a better foundation when it comes to environmental field work. 4. Are there cheap Msc Environmental courses in Maryland, Baltimore schools? as i have my sister and uncle there. 5. Do i need a GRE? (from my observation some schools don't need it) 6. A combined GP aggregate of my BSC and MSC here in Nigeria, will it surely get me a graduate school in USA? as my GP of 2.6 for my MSC in nigeria was initially rejected but finally approved. Thanks alot, would appreciate quick responses as university of texas brownville i wrote just said i wont be able to join them in September as deadline has passed. |

Haba now sis that was a poor transcript,no hard feelings but if I was the VO I wouldn't have approved your visa. Your answers to the following were too poor, didn't show you are a serious student Vo: y twu? You just said because you preferred the program, Haba, you should have given better reasons why you chosed the school out of all the schools in the USA by stating how the program offered in the school would benefit your academic and future goals Vo: u are already working as an account officer, y are u going for masters in accounting again? Me:I needed d certificate to get a better job opportunity That second response was another Red flag ! The Vo asked you why are you going for masters in accounting when you already work as an accountant? you should have explain why you needed a master degree in accounting when you work already has an accountant. The way you answered the Vo you sounded has if you were going to just drop your degree certificate after completion of your degree... You need more preparation.... 2 Likes |

Sorry for the delay Madam but you need to recognize where your strengths in an interview are. You are an accountant already, so going for MSc in accounting is definitely a plus but you failed to see/take advantage of that. The 2 most important questions to sell yourself/your future goal were the ones you performed so poor in. I am no guru but my advice is go check the School's website and read more on what you stand to gain from studying your course, read up previous transcripts, find great answers for all possible questions asked during F1 visa interview, develop really great reasons for choosing your school/course, and practice more so your confidence may improve. Though you didn't write GRE.....Take advantage of every other "thing" that can work in your favour ....your experience, family(home ties), future plan(maybe starting a business or occupying a top management position in some top Accounting firms... You can mention few when asked....) Just prepare better please. All the best |

Umuks: Bro you tried but I think you should have given better answers to this two questions: How did you hear about the school ? I think you should have emphasized more on the kind of research you made about the school Secondly how many schools did you apply too? Native Americans apply to 5 or more schools not to talk of international students and thats why gurus in the forum always advice that you apply to more than 1 school..... even when you knew you applied to just 1 school there's way you should have said you shortlisted few other schools but you decided to go for that one by giving a concrete reasons as too why..... bro prepare better and refire and your next transcript would be your approved visa transcript. What do i even know, I await the gurus in the house to make further input. 2 Likes |
