Omooba77: I remembered quite well during the buildup to the 2015 election; APC promised to build modular refineries in months. As of today only Dangote refinery which is a private initiative, which may not come online till 2020. Please where are the promised refineries; because this fuel scarcity is hard on us the populace? God bless Nigeria.
Scarcity is as a result of importation price difference due to world market. |

Who is it that benefits from having 1hour of electricity per day and how? Do let me know.
And even if that is the case, how come the interests of that single individual overpowers those of the whole nation? The Generator importers , the petrol importers . NNPC . The FG , you want me to go on ? ? 2 Likes |

You have to understand how international EPC works. You do studies, you do front end design, you do detailed design, you specify equipment, you select OEMs, then they manufacture, then they invite you to come and test, then they transport, then you errect on site, then you commission.
Does this appear to you to be a two-year thing?
People are so ignorant in Nigeria yet talk, talk and talk.
The modular refinery idea itself is very STUPID. We have said many times it is uneconomic and will not work. This national tendency of looking for short cuts will not work.
Refinery business can only be done profitably at scale ( >250000 barrels a day) and should produce many by products.
Anyway thank you for knowing Danone refinery will not run till 2020. then why do they build modular refineries if it's only profitable at scale. you can say more profitable but not completely un profitable. at least cost of transport to and fro will substitute for lack of scale. nearness to market will offset any other refining cost |

baralatie: if you know the conditions that where set down for the establishment, license to initiate interest, license to build,,license to operate, license to sell and all kind of obstacles.you would understand it is virtually impossible to see modular refineries unless nnpc is totally scraped of its powers like nitel they should build in Togo and Cameron along border |

erico2k2: The Generator importers , the petrol importers . NNPC . The FG , you want me to go on ? ? This is a very short sighted view. The money made from importing generator can equally be made if not higher via refining the existing nigerian gaz into petrol. They can just turn their equity from one business into the other, with the advantage that they will be doing something patriotic that will benefit them and their children too. And a resourceful leadership with vision would have understood that and provided tax incentives to encourage the businessmen who invest into that domain, while increasing tax on importation of petrol. As simple as abc. 1 Like 1 Share |

You cannot build a $40million pipeline to a $10million refinery for each refinery. People are not thinking. It is even the transport cost that makes modular refineries unworkable. They will receive crude from terminals and crude oil quality control centres by BARGE. That is the only way...and my friend, it is extremely STUPID |

Anyway thank you for knowing Danone refinery will not run till 2020. Yet the illegal ones in the bush are working & producing diesel even though the quality isn't so Good. modular refineries is not rocket science, it won't take long for designs to be done. design can be done less than 6months!! The reason modular refineries or our comatose refineries will not see the light of the day is because of those that are benefitting from the way things are now. they will fight tooth & nail for things to remain this way |
