What about former finance minister Okonjo Iweala warning in 2014 that Nigerians should get ready for tough years ahead. I guess Jonathan put you all to sleep then. Or you all think she was joking then. And crude oil was just above $75 when she said that.

You think that a refinery is a two bedroom flat that you can build in few months, the poverty development party killed all our refineries over their sixteen years of misrule and you expect Buhari to get them working under three years? You must be joking. Even Mr Dangote has been building his own for close to ten years now, yet we don't know for sure when he will finish it.

Even a blind man can hear that Dangote is building a refinery. Building a refinery or acquiring a refinery is not space science. This Government and previous ones in the last say 30 years are not just serious. There is ready market in Nigeria and neighboring west african countries for refined crude even as the whole world is looking elsewhere. That is an indicator that if this sector is developed we will be swimming in money. We even heard that every state will be allowed to operate a modular refinery or something close to that. These are simple solutions to the larger problem.

However, as soon as APC gets in they forgot about the magic word modular and they went on rampage to destroy all the so called "illegal refineries" which our able local engineers / technicians have researched and developed. I am sure those so called "illegal refineries" have a little contribution to the overall petrol product supply.

What about working with this locals who build these so called "illegal refineries" to convert them to "legal low technology" refineries which could be developed further to "moderate level technology" refineries.

One thing we fail to realise as a country is that ALL advanced technologies start from low level technology and over time some people spend time, money and other resources to make them the so called advanced technology. Ever wondered that these so called advanced technologies will be referred to as low level technologies in say 10, 20 years time ?

Even if it is only these so called "illegal refineries", let's use them as an intermediate solution to our supply shortfall while we focus on the long time solution of building refineries rather than destroying them. Even in the developed economies, petroleum products are graded. Besides, for Christ sake we can engage the pioneers of these local technologies to reduce the ever increasing unemployment level in the country.

Governance is all about being able appraise the various opportunities which are abound in the governed territories and maximizing these Potentials for the service of the citizenry. It does not have anything to do with righteousness. Otherwise, we do not need to conduct elections rather we can always call on the leader of each religious group to lead us. Nigeria and indeed Africa Needs to wake up. Every country of the world is moving forward. Nigeria is either not moving at all or moving backwards. The impostors who call themselves our leaders do not have any positive contribution they can make to develop the country but they can rush to the developed countries to enjoy real dividend of good governance which they can not provide.

What a shame !!!

The illegal refineries you referred to are not your typical modular refinery. They are not truly a refinery in the sense of the word. Try what they refined in your car and your engine is done. They are an environmental disaster.

About 650,000 barrels a day, which is double entire existing capacity of 4 refineries. And yes it should meet the entire national requirement.

Seems you are the f--l for not being informed of what is in the public domain. Read the papers and watch channels news once in a while dude!
you do realize that you can't convert all 650000 to fuel. after processing you might be left with a little less than half of that amount in pms. so in all sincerity, dangote will soothe but cannot provide nigerians with all its daily fuel, kero, and diesel consumption. we need to get other players like mobil, chevron or shell on board else we find ourselves in a monopoly system ruled by dangote and his political friends.

Shame on Nigeria government.

We are tired of being lied to by Nigeria government led by president Buhari as minister of petroleum and APC lying political party.

If there's one thing APC has shown us in the last 3 years, it's that they are better than the PDP as an opposition party, while the PDP (lesser devil) is better than APC as a ruling party.

We'll correct the error in 2019.

One of the ways to identify the APC Decepticons is their penchant for lying boldly about matters which are in the public domain

See the demonic lie that Dangote has been building a refinery for 10yrs and does not know when he will finish.

He began the refinery in 2015. Maybe that is 10yrs ago to an APC apologist

Also he has always set 2018/2019 for completion of Phase 1

So maybe its only you that doesn't know when he will finish.

Buhari was the stack of problem and should take full responsibility. If he had not let the dollar loose at his disposal 145 would have kept both price of commodities and subsidy away from the history of this country. He had all the support he needed but have brought untold hardship to the ordinary Nigerian. I have never felt the need for govt . Until this administration he is a hell of an administrator. Before we call them modular it should have been considered and prospects seen within it. They probably need good control system. We need to start some where to get the desired result we are seeking. The only problem is the risk which I think is worth the time spent. But if noting is been considered then it's hell on earth for our nation.

I did. Ignorance is what makes people shout 650k BPD cos they don't know that it doesn't translate to 650k BPD of PMS. PMS is the last thing that comes out of crude oil after removing about 6 by-products. At the end of the day,the volume drops drastically.

Which Tinubu are you subtly hailing self? The one that promotes mediocrity? The one that for selfish reason imposed an illiterate president on the people. When 2015 presidential campaign was on, at the peak of Buhari certificate saga, Tinubu mounted campaign stage and said "Certificate or no certificate, qualified or no qualified, Buhari will be president". So what's special about a man unwilling to make an unqualified man to head the country? Abeg spare us this Tinubu talk. Has he himself even settled his Toronto certificate saga? Mediocres!
