I can perfectly relate to what you are saying; i'm really surprise that lady is still at that embassy. I then wanted to write a petition to the Philippine consular officer on that lady and copy appropriate gov't authority; more sad is that she's a Nigerian (Akwa-ibom/Calaber). She literally insults everyone, students and their guardians inclusive 2 Likes |

JORDAN202: This is the principal problem! Philippines is poor and corrupt and it is still shaped and haunted by the ghost of Fidel Marcos who oppressed and pauperised this once thriving country. Just like the present Nigeria was and is shaped by the endemic corruption and mediocrity of the Babangida years. Filipinos are probably the most famous of economic migrants in the world and they migrants here who work was househelps. Simply thinking any non-black country is prosperous is akin to thinking that Libya is a paradise! A paradise indeed! 1 Like |

I have to Log in to advice you. The same Man KAYODE you're Talking about has been working with the Embassy for good rewardable 18yrs. He's an experienced man in his Field and he knows the genuine applicants from fake ones with Fake Documents. If u as an applicant has original n acceptable documents with u..you shouldn't give Bribe or have any problem with officials in the Embassy and ofkus the consular Most pple complaining about Bribe are deportee from Malaysia and they wanted to enter Malaysia again through Philippine. And when they come to the Embassy with Fake Documents... They will be exposed right from the gate. Some Drug Addicts comes to the Embassy.. I don't wanna believe you're one of them. U don't even know KAYODE... And you're taminating his image. Pls if you're too Bold come n see him in his office. PHILIPPINES citizens ARE INTELLIGENT, WISE,HARD WORKING, TRUSTED AND RELIABLE. That is why Big n influential people in Nigeria are looking for them to employ postemail: |

you have to wonder why they are actually going there --is it cheaper or do they have ulterior motives --like a gateway to malaysia. http://www.philstar.com/nation/2017/03/16/1681719/Philippines-lags-asian-university-rankings Nigerians are common in their marine transportation colleges in the Philippines but it is also a known fact that many of these kids end up in malaysia committing crimes. I have been to manila and some of the other major cities in the Philippines --they do have great beaches ,but this is a third world country with poor infrastructure and a poor standard of living. Instead of fighting at the Philippine embassy ,they would be well served if they could show such anger at the national assembly and insist of a better deal for the Nigerian student. |

grandstar: I was at that embassy with relation of mine recently and we were treated with respect by Mr Kayode. When you go to an embassy on a position of weakness, then you get whatever is served to you. When you go on a position of strength, you will be accorded respect. There are no jobs in Philippines. How Nigerians even go there for schooling or work is beyond me. 1 Like |

Kay3010: My friend, security guards (all Nigerians) at these foreign missions often treat applicants without respect. Not only at these missions, you often see this sort of mentality everywhere and everyday, especially at govt offices. That gate-keeper mentality; "without me you can't succeed." It's wrong. Is it his duty or consular officer's job to determine fraudulent applications? 1 Like |

Bollinger:Oga slow down? Did Azikiwe, Awolowo etc come from Mars? The Problem IS that Most black Leaders prefer to keep the people poor for easy Control. Nigerians do Not decide who should be voted For...na wetin de ballot you Go choose from. The leaders only Put Forward candidates who would Protect their Interests. The people are poor and hapless...and thats the dream of most black leaders. So yea...the Leaders are fellow Citizens, but the people have been "domesticated".. |

UncleJudax: What is the definition of Democracy? "Government of the people, by the people, for the people". Of the people. Meaning the citizens pick among themselves people to lead and or represent them. Here's what has be proven through history; When a people that are as bad as Nigerians exists to form a country, they can never have good leaders. This is evidenced through your history. Bad people=bad leaders=bad country. And the worst thing is you never take responsibility for your actions thereby denying yourselves the opportunity to learn from your mistakes. It is always the leaders fault. Did Nigerians not know how inept Buhari was before voting for him? All they cared about was their greed and the 5k. Who's fault is it now that Atiku is being touted to become the next president? Who's fault is it that Malaye, Tinubu, Saraki, Fayose flaunt their ill gotten wealth and Nigerians support him? Who's fault is it that you guys collect salt and garri, and now lipton and gala before you vote? I can't believe i have to explain this. And lastly, Awo and Zik were regional leaders who only affected their regions. You see how sad it is that you could only name two regional leader in over half a century. Sad |

Bollinger:Again slow down. You have to understand that the Younger Generation we're Born into this black Madness and have Not been able to Independently contribute in Building the Country. Again i say, the people already in power decide Who Rules..Not the majority of the Citizens. Buhari was brought back after More than 30years by this Same people. And If He doesnt please them...Atiku would be The next President! I do agreed with you that Nigerians are corrupt, and deserve the Kind of Leaders they get...but you should Not shy away from the fact that the very Leaders who started this rot, are still shaping the destinies of Millions of Nigerians. There IS a reason they are referred to as Leaders...they are supposed to Set the Standard. But when they dont, you have a Nigeria! I See you mentioned 5 and salt...i Said in my First reply that keeping the Population poor is one of the Dreams of afro-leaders...it is a very effective tool! |

UncleJudax: I am sorry if i've been crude and rude. I am not used to engaging Nairalanders who actually converse with thought. I apologize. That being said though, you've given reasons so what are the solutions? You guys can't continue this way. Nigeria is at a dangerous precipice and the slightest nudge will send it to the deep end. I usually don't approve of excuses as to why standards are not being met. I come from a place where it's results or nothing. I agree that the younger generation have known nothing else so they have no option but to act the way they are as of now, but how do you guys change things? I know what i would do that'll work but i want your ideas. |

Philippines education system is far better than Nigeria education system most especially in IT, medical and engineering field. Most medical doctors and nurses working in US and middle east are filipinos. The worst public university in philippines is better than best public university in Nigeria. In philippines the average size of students per lecture is between 20 to 30. Which public university in nigeria has such size? Every university has research center. They dont experience strike. Their labs are well equiped. The language of teaching in all schools is English. Their public universities are free tuition but is difficult for a foreigner to be admitted into public univerisities there. People travel to philippines for study because is cheaper compare to US and Europe yet they have almost same standard. In terms of practicals, a graduate from Nigeria university cant withstand a graduate from philippines especially in Engineering field. So if you dont have knowledge of a country do reseach before writing rubbish about the country. Filipinos working in Nigeria as exparts. People that say that philippines is very poor, do you know that the minimum wage in philippines is 350peso per day which 2520naira per day. Calculate that per month. They travel alot to other countries for work because the jobs available in philippines are limited and also they earn more. Most filipinos that work in restaurants in Nigerian and as maid are paid not less than 400usd per month. You can verify that. So you people should stop blaming people traveling to philippines for study. I lived in philippines for 4yrs so i should tell you guys better even though im no longer there. I also want to let you know that 80% of Nigerian that travel to other countries engage in illegal businesses and crime whereas 95% of filipinos that travel to other countries has good jobs because they are skillful. Thats why most countries grant them visa free. To some other countries they need visa, they dont struggle for visa the way we Nigerians do. Finally, in term of GDP, philippines is richer than Nigeria. Nigeria is a very poor country. Is only individuals hat have money in Nigeria. As a country Nigeria is poor 2 Likes 1 Share |

Bollinger:Apology Accepted. You are right, a lot of people here dont argue with reasons, they are either frustrated or playing religious/ethnic card At this point, a working Nigeria sounds like a mirage. The system is faulty and has been for so long. I would say the institutions have to be fixed, so that regardless of who comits a crime, justice is delivered. The judiciary is a mess. Law inforcement agencies should have some Independence, and work for the people...not politicians. There are lots of ills in Nigeria and lack of accountability has deteroriated the system. This needs to be reversed. Another big Problem is the worship of money. Again this is one of the results of a failed system. Everybody is looking to Break away from poverty. People do unimaginable things for money...which also include the 5k you mentioned. To be honest it is going to be difficult because the politicians do Not want a Change in the Status quo. They only know how Not to obey the law...or obey when they want...the people have copied them, compounding the Problem. Strong institutions are needed to restructure the mindset of Nigerians and hold people Accountable for their deeds. 1 Like |
