[January 7, 2018]

The Executive Council of Nigerian Universities Education Students' Association (NUESA), University of Ibadan hereby notifies the generality of Educators that second semester examination for 2016/2017 academic session will commence on Monday 08-01-2018.

Educators are hereby enjoined to adequately prepare for this examination and avoid any side distraction.

It is also pertinent to note that at this point that we are, all hands must be on deck to collectively support the University towards having a successful examination.

You are hereby implored to be calm, vigilant and be security conscious throughout the period of this examination and beyond.

Gadgets and materials that are not useful but implicating should be kept away from the examination venue to avoid distraction to ourselves as well as other colleagues.

All other facilities and materials that will enhance successful examination have been put in place by the University Management.

We pray that as we commence this semester examination, may God Almighty grant us retentive memory to recall all that have been read in the course of our preparation and that we come out victorious at the end.

Once again, we beseech that we maintain a perfect cooperation and be security conscious.

[5:51 PM, 1/7/2018] Prof Idowu Olayinka: QUICK NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

Sequel to the threats of disruptions of exams tomorrow by NANS, and the possibility of a JAC protest; in a mutual reach out (this evening) with the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, he has continuously affirm that exams will hold tomorrow. Also, he added that maximum security measures have been put in place to ensure peace and stability on campus.
Hence, students should return back to their books and brace up for the exams ahead.

PS: He however added that the Kenneth Dike Library is now open for use, will be opened till 6pm and that measures are being put in place to effect 24 hours reading. He also reiterated his commitment to looking into the refusal of librarians to release books to undergraduates who desire to borrow.

In lieu of the above, the Union of Campus Journalists hereby implore everyone to study hard for the exams and hope for the best

Some so-called students have no business being within the figurative four walls of a university. They latch on every conceivable, real and unreal cause to hold the entire school to ransom. The interesting thing is that such students are in the minority, while the majority of the law-abiding students lament silently that their school calendar is being frivolously hijacked from them.

Students should open their eyes. In public schools whether you write exams or not, the salaries and promotions of the lecturers remain unaffected. Whether you graduate in record time in multiples of the record time, the lecturers have absolutely nothing to lose. This hooliganism that our educational institutions practises in the name of student unionism is beneath the level of individuals professing to be educated... Students should stop hiding behind the veil of student unionism to insult people who are not their mates. Intellectualism should be the way forward for our students, not hooliganism.
And yes, the university administration reserves the right to proscribe the student union. As strong as OAU student union was it was proscribed and heavens did not fall.

UI students are determined to start their examinations tomorrow. Professional students can collude with JAC to retard their own progress. Nigeria is not good, there is no job, no amenity on campus. All noted, but I beg grab your degree and advance your life. Half baked or quarter baked, you need a degree to have a fair chance at landing a good job. Don't let the NFAs slow you down.
