Appeal Court Turns Down Suit Seeking To Stop Anambra Central Re-run Election by newsbook: 8:29pm On Jan 11, 2018
The Court of Appeal, Abuja division, on Thursday, refused an application seeking to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from conducting the rerun election into the Anambra Central Senatorial District of Anambra State.

The court said the earlier order made on November 20, 2017, directing the electoral body to conduct an election for the Senatorial seat within 90 days cannot be reversed so as not to make a mockery of the judiciary.

The decision of the appellate court read by Justice Abubakar Datti Yahaya refused to grant the request for the postponement of the election already scheduled for tomorrow brought before it by an aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ani Clement Okonkwo.
