As NIGERIANS in the world over today Monday 15/01/18 marked the Armed Forces rememberance day, the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Hon.Chief Jite Brown, the Leader of the Udu Legislative Arm Hon.Goru Jonathan and others lay wreaths at the status of the Unknown Soldier at the Cenotaph in Udu Otor-Udu Headquarters of Udu Local Government.

The Udu Council Boss who commissioned the status of the unknown soldier, in his welcome address reiterated that the ceremony is being organised in honour of those who lost their lives during the first and second world war, 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 as well as the Nigerian civil war of 1967-1970, the various peace keep missions around the globe towards the maintenance of world peace. He further revealed that the national event brings to focus the supreme sacrifice paid by Nigeria’s patriotic fallen heroes.

Hon.Chief Jite also inspected guard of honour mounted by the Nigerian Army, and members of the Nigerian Legion.A minute silence was observed while a 7 -gun salute was taken in honour of the departed heroes of the country.

On his part, the Chairman Nigerian Legion of Ex-servicemen, Udu Council Chapter, Major(Sir) John Ogezo Rtd said that the Nigerian Legion is the body that is responsible for the welfare and the upkeep of disabled members among them, including the widows and Children of their fallen colleagues. While appealing to the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government to use his good office to provide the body with more uniforms, empowerment for their widows and engagement or employment of their able bodied ex-servicemen, Ogezo congratulated the newly sworn in council Chairman Chief Jite Brown, his Vice Hon Justice Iyasere and all elected councillors on their electoral victory at the just concluded polls.

Jonathan, Hon Justice of Udu High court, CAN Chairman Udu Chapter, Udu Local Government HPM Mr.Ukutsemuya Macauley,Member of the Nigerian Legion, Divisional Police Officer, Ovwian-Aladja among other personalities.
