Her apartment always being neat and tidy has got nothing to do with the level of her personal hygiene.

then again this may not be an issue of brushing.. she might be suffering from mouth odour. there is no way you can help her except she let's you. from your story she feels insulted when ever you hint on the smell. it's truly not easy not to feel bad when in such situation. but it remains that if she'll not let you discuss it then you can never help her. find a way, a subtle way to let her know you have a problem with it and let her know you're ready to help her put an end to it.

She's not dirty. How do you define a dirty person sef? I've a friend that eats before brushing her month, I on the other hand, can't try such 'cause I'm used to brushing before starting my day, and this girl is very neat when it comes to personal hygiene. I think upbringing is the cause here and that she gets angry for being corrected makes her case helpless.

Thanks dear, it's really not a disease kind of mouth odour, it's just for lack of mouthwash, she's slept over at my place a couple of times and prefers to dive into breakfast without brushing at times.

OP, personal hygiene, which includes brushing and having an oral regimen, is one of the most basic life skills an adult should have. The fact that your girlfriend stormed out when you asked her if she brushed her teeth is telling to me. In my opinion, I wouldn't deal with that. But if you're adamant about sticking this out, be more subtle about your approach.

Make a dental appointment and ask her to join you for the appointment. But ahead of time, inform the dentist about the situation. If the dentist suggests giving her a check-up, maybe she won't be offended. That way, a professional can look and see if something more serious or not is going on and she can have a cleaning. This method might have to be on your dime though.

Another approach is telling her you went to the dentist's and the dentist recommended you get more serious about your oral regimen. Brushing a minimum of twice a day and up to three times a day, flossing, rinsing with hydrogen peroxide and mouthwash. Maybe that'll hint to her she should do the same. Heck, even say you bought too many oral products at the store and you don't want them to go to waste and dash her.

Another method is making up a fake friend who has serious mouth odor and you two figuring out a way to inform the friend. Again, this may make her think inwardly about her own oral hygiene. Or you can even use yourself as the person with the problem.

One more option would be to practice the proper oral hygiene in front of her. For example: After a meal of egusi soup, say, "Would it weird you out if I flossed/brushed my teeth right now? I hate when I have the feeling that something is stuck in my teeth or my breath smells. Would you like some floss? Would you like to brush too? I have a spare one."

The final one is just being straight with her but coming from a place of care. For example: "Chioma, I don't want to argue but for the past several months I've noticed a problem that you may not be aware of..." or "If I had this problem, I would want someone who cares about me to tell me..." or "I'm sorry but..." and just say it.

You are really trying, as a clean freak, I hate someone being dirty around me. Dump her before she kills you with bad breath.

I do not think she's dirty, might be she has underlying mouth odor. That might be the stench you have been smelling.

I for one like eating before I brush my teeth in the morning. It makes no sense to me to brush then eat and still have residue in my mouth. Why not eat breakfast then brush the meal out of my mouth?

O. P, be calm and tackle this with great wisdom. You said she's neat just the mouth odor. Why not try to convince her to try to do her best to make her breath smell fresh?

Those days she dives breakfast does she brush after or just forget?
done brush immediately after or a little while after.. if so then not all that bad.. then it might be a mouth odour problem.. but is she don't brush after.. man you got to get mad at the act, tell her over and over again till she changes. be direct man.. stuff like.. babe if you can't wash your mouth before eating don't touch that.
