its an acer laptop,it dosen't play videos on d internet(i cant watch a movie thru d net),it only plays dvds.

@berylol, Pls u have to be specific about ur laptto issue, cos u said here that its plays net videos and it doesnt play internet videos

@beryllol u probably need to install flash player for your browser. Head over to filehippo.com and search for it (2 types exist - for internet explorer and for non internet explorer) and download the appropriate one. Then install it and hopefully u should be able to play videos from on the net. Cheers.

Please , there is this persistent nasty web address " www.solutioncolony.com/advertweb/router.asp" that comes up on the address bar just before the intended website address e.g if you want to go to yahoo site and you type www.yahoomail.com, the address bar will automatically display "www.solutioncolony.com/advertweb/router.asp?Url=www.yahoo.com" and starts requesting for a username and password .

Please how do I remedy this situation?

I think you've got spyware (redirector -- to  be more specific) so get a good anti spyware (dont ask how), scan your machine remove those spies and maybe you'll be fine. Cheers

@lasunray, all you have to do firstly is to reformat the windows and if it continues, then u might have to change the keyboard.

@lasunray first, get a new keyboard, if that doesn't work we'll then consider something else. You can also try out a usb keyboard after disconnecting ur current one to see if u still have issues. Cheers.

my hp compact c571n is having a little problem on its touchpad. sometimes it doesn't move good. i mean, it drags. what can i do to fix this?

@macromades, dont u kno there're times virus deals wit ur keyboard and its start mal functioning?, I have experienced such before, Its was a virus that took over my mouse and keyboard.
Thats why i told him to format first.

formatting the harddrive is always the last resort, you should have advised him on how to detect and flush malware first instead of telling him to format besides in my last post, i told him to try a usb keyboard with his primary keyboard disconnected before he buys a keyboard. I think you will do better by adopting a differential diagnosis approach instead of this one size fit all approach of formatting, did you consider the possibility of the problem not going away after he has formatted his harddrive? He probably would lose custom settings, programs and maybe even documents, did you think about the licensing terms and conditions of all his installed software, or dont you believe in paying for software? Honestly, not to belittle you but your previous post was shallow and not in line with best practices. Cheers

get a usb keyboard plug to your machine after disconnecting the 'bad' one, if you still have the same problem your 'bad' keyboard is actually fine then we begin to think along the line of malware and how to get rid of them. Cheers.

Good day,I own a hp pavillion 6000,windows xp laptop, and since i purchased it (about 2wks ago)i've been unable to browse with it,whenever i plug-in in any cybercafe, my laptop refuses 2 acknowledge it despite the fact that the 'port' actually works(it blinks yellow & blue when plugged-in).please what do i do?hope i'm worth of a reply.thanks

when i was browsing wit my laptop.presario compaq vista the lightning off my laptop wen i on it back my network adaptor is no longer workin it shows yelow light whenever i on laptop which not suppose to be so.and whenever i play media file now it makes cracking sound intermitently wit my media players and my window media player is not opening.pls i need ur advise

it's either you are running other memory intensive applications at the same time esp if your machine 'belong to' the low end segment or the disc you are copying has bad sectors (the disc is bad). Cheers.

it seems your network card driver is gone (dont ask). To check open control panel, then open administrative tools and double-click device manager. Look thru the entries and look for ethernet or network orsimilar (it varies), if there's a yellow '?' beside the entry, you need to install the driver, you can get it from the driver cd that came with your machine or better still get the latest one from support and downloads section of hp.com but if you see a red 'x', it means that the device is disabled, so right click the entry and select enable. Cheers.

Wat about me

i have a hp latop,
my friend took and few month later he came back with it but this time the system is totally out of service and so i decided to do whats right.
now the system can boot and work normally but the only problem am really facing up till today is that, after sometimes it will hang and display blue screen.
pls help me solve this problem

you need to explain better, maybe enumerate the issues you have in a more logical way e.g tell us your machine model, OS, browser etc. then mention whether or not it has had any physical damage, etc. I don't see the connection between your windows media player not running and your network connection.
