ABAKALIKI— DESPITE the purported endorsement of the presidential ambition of General Ibrahim Babaginda by former Biafra warlord, Dim Emeka Ojukwu, no fewer than  six Igbo groups have jointly rejected the ambition of General Babaingida,  who ruled Nigeria for eight years under a military dictatorship.

The six Igbo groups that are against the planned return of the Babangida,  include Igbo Students Association, Igbo Traders Union, Umuada Alaigbo, World Igbo Congress, Otu Umuigbo Lagos and Igbo Youth Movement, IYM.

The groups that met at IYM secretariat in Enugu, resolved to make public their decisions, which they said would serve as a guiding light to Ndigbo in the months ahead.

In a resolution at the end of the meeting convened by the President of IYM, Evangelist Elliot Uko, the groups said, “we came about this resolution after painstaking research and consultations all over Igbo land. We sent out six thousand questionnaires in March and we just collated them last week and they are verifiable for anybody who would want to see them.

“We sampled opinions of traders at Aba, Onitsha, Nnewi, Enugu, Abakaliki, Owerri and Umuahia. We also talked with civil servants, school teachers, students, traditional rulers, religious leaders and we can authoritatively say that we have aggregated the opinions of Ndigbo within the last eight weeks and the verdict is, that Ndigbo are totally disenchanted with the way the Federal Republic of Nigeria is run presently.

“Ndigbo are bitter with the failure of authorities to restore energy to at least 10 megawatts. They are also frustrated with the electoral process and do not think there is any need to vote in next years election if the brazen malpractice, which has become the culture is not checked,” the groups said.

Atleast some people still have conscience, despite the fact that the self proclaim leader is an idiot.
The beautiful one are not yet born, but the ugly refuse to die.
