Obafemi Awolowo was a Nigerian nationalist and political leader. He played very important roles in Nigeria’s quest for independence. He also played key parts in the First and Second Republics.

He was the first premier of the Western Region and later federal commissioner for finance. He was also the Vice Chairman of the Federal Executive Council during the Gowon administration.

He was also the official Leader of the Opposition in the federal parliament to the Tafawa Balewa government from 1959 to 1963.

The man was a man of many firsts. For instance, He was the first Leader of Government Business and Minister of Local Government and Finance, and first Premier of the Western Region under Nigeria’s parliamentary system, from 1952 to 1959.

On three occasions, Awolowo made attempts at the country’s presidency.

Much of the progressive social legislation that has made Nigeria a modern nation is credited to him.

In recognition of all these, Awolowo was the first individual in the modern era to be named “Leader of the Yorubas” (Asiwaju Awon Yoruba or Asiwaju Omo Oodua).

On 9 May 1987, he died at his Ikenne home. He was aged 78.

A part of his Ikenne home, the Efunyela Hall, was made a museum to commemorate the life and times of this sage. His widow, H.I.D Awolowo, commissioned the museum on August 4, 1989.

Part of the items on display in the museum is an eight-sitter grey Mercedes 230.6.

The Mercedes Benz was used by Awolowo to travel across the country during his electioneering campaign in 1979 and 1983. The car was bought in 1970.

when writing his citation you probably forgot to mention that he introduced tribalism into Nigeria politics, was also a traitor and died of xs drugs. Did I forget to mention cultist? I doubt if his soul is in heaven. I strongly believe it's in the other side.

At least he was bold enough to kill himself Ojuku was a soldier that flee when his people needed him. Remember the yoruba general that died with Ironsi that is a bold soldier. Never insult Awolowo he will always be remembered for the good things he did for us the opportunities, free education in the West. He was the finance minister for a long time and we are all enjoying his efforts now otherwise, this country would have been dead and buried.

Despite all your hatred for Awolowo and everything he stood for, and your obstinacy to continue in the stupidity of accusing him of tribalism for winning an election to become the Premier of his own Western region against an Igbo man from the East, Awolowo left behind an unrivalled legacy, and did more for his people than Azikwe (who's responsible for most of your frustration and misery anyway) ever did for you. Greatest fellow Nigerians, President Muhammadu Buhari have put up the mandate to us to make Nigeria great again by declaring his intention for second term.
This man means we'll for Nigerians,
He entered office in 2015:
1. And since 2016,boko-haram became handicap to attack and other terrorist groups like ipob are now exterminated and their leader dead somewhere.
2. And now Looters are afraid of the name Nigeria.
3. And all is set for the payment of 5000 to all Nigerian youths.
4. And now bag of rice that was N22000 is N5000.
5. And now though dollar is high, it decreasing rate shows that in the next quarter of the year, 000.01 naira will be equal to 1 dollar and perhaps people have never been this rich in other regime compare to our great PMB regime.
6. Millions of employment everyday as those who were even sack are now getting more better jobs.
7. No strikes in our tertiary institutions again.
8. Great infrastructures now showing up every now and then both in the SS, SE, NE, NW, NC, SW... Just name it.
9. Improvement in public health care that even the president son and family are now attended to medically in Nigeria.
10. Nigeria is now written with integrity all over the world that if we can extend PMB tenure to 2023 and even add more years, a permanent seat in the UN is sure for us.
11. Industry are now working that we can now see self-driven cars on our highways.
