I dont think this is the right answer an average Power Engineer should give, he is talking about Safety, you don't need to knock off your feeders during storms if you have a robust protection scheme. Nigerian network is Radial and not Ring. No feedback options. We need a more sophisticated Network

Ever since the heavy storm and rain that happened last week Saturdaypower had not been restored here. It's 8 days now

There is a fault somewhere that would require cash to fix. Considering Nigeria factor, it might take sometime before cash is released. That is why every home need a prepaid meter, this would make the discos to quickly restore electricity because without it, no money from the consumers

Nigerians are funny people.

Reasonings like this, is why Biafrans want out.

Is that so? And I believe the power situation in "Biafra" is better than other parts of Nigeria?

The ironic thing is that in developed countries,in a storm, their first priority is to restore power supply because the lack of power has fatal consequences for life, consumables, drugs and infrastructure. But here in Nigeria, the first priority of the power companies is to cut off all power, without thinking of the consequences!
The electricity company assume that we can generate our power ourselves. They do as they like without an apology

Area have not been metered yet. Still on estimated billing and I guess that's why they are not giving it a top priority coz at the end of the month, they are going to bring crazy bills. We are tye one at loss here if they can't fix it within few days.

Yes Bro... Since the rain fell 5days ago in my area.. they are waiting for the pole to dry before restoring the light and it wants to rain again today I guess it will be 2weeks before the pole completely dried... That's if there's no rain fall in between
But they can't postpone distribution of light bills

Bad workman always quarrel with his tools. What of when there is no rain storm ? excuses every where, Nigeria is the only country where people happily pay for DARKNESS every month. Next time you will tell us to turn to rainmakers so that we would stop rain from falling before we get 24/7 power supply. Nigeria is the SHITTEST HOLE in the whole world, take it or leave it.

Opinionated:
Ikeja Electric also known as (IKEDC) has taken time to explain why it is common to electricity cut in Nigeria when there is a rainstorm.

It posted the explanation on Twitter thus:

Do You know?

That power outages during storms are mostly a safety measure that in the event of a short circuit, broken branch or strong winds felling poles, lives and property may be protected as there is significantly increased risk of harm where wires remain energized in a strong storm?

What do you think: a good thing or not?

Rubbish. Why are outages a rare occurrence in other countries. Why are they still using overhead electric poles. We keep defending mediocrity.
I think those electric poles might literally fall most times, I never knew how bad this my phobia was, until last week when I went into full blown panic attack upon lifting up my eyes and seeing electric wires everywhere like crossword puzzle.
