Presidency Outlines How Buhari Has Lifted Nigerian Economy, Blasts Critics by actiondrilling: 7:47pm On May 24, 2018
The Presidency has given evidences of improvement and growth of the country’s economy under the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

In a statement forwarded to Akelicious on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the Presidency said that some people had made it a pastime to talk as if there was no silver lining in the sky as far as the economy is concerned.

According to him, such persons carry on as if it was doom and gloom all the way, a thoroughfare of woes, adding that “this they do, to hoodwink the public, and peradventure gain political advantage for themselves, or their principals.”

The statement added, “But facts are stubborn things. Those arrayed against facts may abhor and deride them, but there they are, staring them starkly in the face. Here are some current facts about the Nigerian economy, which naysayers may not be able to do anything about:
“According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the economy has recovered from the slow-down and eventual recession, which started in 2014. There has been improvement with stronger growth for three successive quarters. From contracting by 0.91% in Q1 2017, the economy has grown by 0.72% in Q2 2017, to 1.17% in Q3 2017, and 2.11% in Q4 2017.
“The Q1 2018 GDP shows that the economy has recorded a GDP growth of 1.95%, compared to a contraction of 0.91% in Q1 2017.

“ The growth is driven by Agriculture and Industry, which shows that finally, after more than 50 years of lip service, the Nigerian economy is on the road to diversification. The oil sector’s contribution to GDP is 9.61%, while non-oil sector’s share is 90.39%.
“ One of the factors responsible for the positive performance of the economy in Q1 2018 was the spending of about N1.5 trillion on infrastructure projects in 2017.
“For the past 15 months, inflation has declined consistently from 18.72% to 12.48%. The country is steadily on the road to single digit inflation rate.
“The first quarter of 2018 saw a continuous growth in total capital importation into the country, the fourth consecutive quarterly increase since Q2 2017. The total value of capital imported is $6,303.63 million, a 17.11% growth over the figure reported in the previous quarter.
“Foreign reserves stand at $47.79 billion, compared to $29.6 billion inherited in May 2015, after about six years boom in oil prices in the international market. The increase came at a time of modest oil prices, showing transparency and accountability by government.
“ Nigeria’s Stock Market ended 2017 as one of the best-performing in the world, with returns of about 40 percent.
“Tax revenue increased to N1.17 trillion, in Q1 2018, a 51% increase on the Q1 2017 figure.”
“Milled rice production has increased from 2.5MT to 4MT, and rice imports have dropped from 580,000MT in 2015 to 58,000MT in 2016. Millions of dollars have been saved.
“These are just little among the good things happening to the Nigerian economy. Only the wilfully blind will not see it, but it does not stop the good work, which continues.
“On exiting recession last year, President Muhammadu Buhari had said he would not consider the job done, until the ordinary man feels the impact of the rebounding economy on his life and pocket. We are inexorably on that road, no matter what scoffers may say.”

When you start any venture with lie, you surely will keep lieing to sustain such a venture or you close down.

1. Femi is saying that they met "$29.6 when they come on board...." While Bubu has been busy disturbing our ear drums that they met an "empty treasury". Meaning PDP did actually left something in our purse. So why the lies all these while?

2. Nigeria's growth is driven by "agriculture and industry" and yet we are blind not to see it? Hana Femi!!! Even from the government bureau of statistics, unemployment has risen to its worst level as companies are folding up under this regime due to its archaic business friendly policies and this man is singing this. Well, except the industry you're referring to is witchcraft, that one even those with eyes can't see it.

APC are just a bunch of liars

For God's sake these idiots in government should allow the populace to give an objective assessment of how good/bad the government have performed.
All these forced blowing of their own trumpet & seemly abusive & coercive shoving down of voodoo economic info down our throat to accept is not gonna work.Ndi ara.

Buhari has achieved absolutely nothing with regards to our economy.

We exported higher volumes of cocoa between 2012 and 2013 than we presently do.

Thailand remains one of the highest exporters of rice and although our importation of rice has decreased, Benin republic has mysteriously become one of the highest importers of rice.

When oil prices ranged between 30 and 45 dollars, Nigeria fell into a recession. Currently oil prices are between 65 and 80 dollars, so Nigeria has come out of recession.

Oil prices put us in a recession and has brought us out.

"The growth is driven by Agriculture and Industry, which shows that finally, after more than 50 years of lip service, the Nigerian economy is on the road to diversification. The oil sector’s contribution to GDP is 9.61%, while non-oil sector’s share is 90.39%."

Femi should please tell us what was the oil sector's contribution to our GDP before the recession to buttress his claim that any level of diversification has occurred.

Well lift is lift... maybe he meant lift from frying pan into the real fire. They can do better by not telling us at all... If GDP, GNP and other measures fail to communicate the increase or decrease to us, per capita income will obviously let us know when the economy gets better.

Its Amazing how this evil lying govt thinks it can just churn our lies at will using fictitious imaginary data written over Daura codeine drinking sessions ..

Femi Adesina should rather explains the following :

Why is fuel now 145 as against 87 naira they met it and yet we are paying more for subsidy..?

Why is petrol subsidy now now 1.4 trillion a year which is 3 times what previous govts paid.

Why has fuel consumption jumped over night from 25 million litres a day in 2015 to 60 million litres now .

Why has the cost of antimalarial jumped from an average of 300 naira to over a thousand naira on just 3 years

Why is infant mortality now higher than ever in our history ?

Why is maternal mortality highest than ever now ?

Why does Nigeria today under Buhari suddenly have the highest number of extremely poor people in modern history ?

Why is Nigerian life expectancy lower than ever today ?

Why has over 13 million jobs been lost in just 3 years?

Why has inflation jumped from single digit to double digits in 3years

Explain to us why in 3 years alone over 400 Nigerian lives have been lost to terrorist herders without any meaninful response from the Buhari govt ?

Why is it that under your govt Nigeria has continuously witnessed it's worst performance ever in the global human development index ?

Why did naira withness it's worst performance ever in Africa under your govt ..?

Femi Adesina it's very clear that the Buhari govt has nothing to offer Nigerians than Nepotism , hardship and bloodshed.

This is obviously immature. He is busy blasting critics with half facta while the critics are giving him the ugly facts that exposes his cluelessness.

What about Leah, and herdsmen? Economic hardship? Buhari is just another Jonathan in Kaftan desperate to return.

Adesina reeling out statistics he knows absolutely nothing about.

BTW, why "blast" critics?
That is associated with BH detonating improvised explosive.

If agriculture is so important to the economy in the view of the presidency, then it seems to think that allowing herdsmen to kill those that farm in the food-producing areas of Nigeria (while they sleep at night) is just what we needed to give agriculture a boost in Nigeria

And lies...

They just lie without blinking.
They are not the issue, their supporters are the biggest problems because they chose to believe lies.

Well, all politicians have nothing to offer both PDP/APC.
