Nigerian novelist "Chimamanda adichie" in a recent interview said she have trouble with men holding the door for women.

"i think it is lovely thing to hold the door but we should hold the door for everyone, like i hold the door for men and women. So i think the idea of holding the door for a woman because she is a woman, i think i have trouble with it" She said

I didn't look at it from this perspective and I bet she didn't either. But I still see nothing wrong in her message, this time.
Maybe she should have used some other illustration wink

She's reading meanings into nothing...men holding doors for women is plain old courtesy, often impulsive. The assumed message is some women are as strong as some men...fact! A six-year-old knows this. The illustration was the message.

If at all that's message, I don't think you should whine over it.
Some women are indeed strong (er).

Women are trying so hard to do everything a man can do... meanwhile they are losing their value.
cos women aren't meant to do everything a man can do... they were actually meant to do everything a man can not do.

and that is?

If that was her message only I wouldn't bother opening the thread and she likely wouldn't get screen time for that as her position is akin to saying the sky is blue.

Throwing in that controversial (albeit moronic) illustration was the only way she could get the attention she craves.

It's unfortunate that some people equate outward success to inner success.

Kate Spade just killed herself yet she was at the top of her game.

Chima is married with a daughter and a surgeon husband.

There is no indication of any inward sadness. You are reaching.

A surname is not enough evidence to tender that she is an equal partner.

A married woman bearing only her father's name is a sign of chronic feminism even in the west.

This is no longer feminism, this is craziness. What happens to being a gentleman? How does it even look to go with your wife on a date and leave her to pull the door, pull the chair and co. Same applies to every woman out her, treat her right. It's common sense. This lady thinks she's all sufficient. Nonsense

how many times have you seen women opening doors or puling chairs for men? don't they know how to be gentle as well?

Holding the door open for a woman is not cos u think she is weak, it's a sign of respect, u honor ur woman enough to give her that courtesy. This woman need to understand the difference between being a feminist and being plain silly.

why don't the woman replicate the respect by also opening or holding the door open for you?

Men be worshipping women in the name of gentleman

I tried to picture that scenario it just wouldn't form in my head.

The only thing that came to me was maybe a gf punching my shoulders playfully.

When women fight you they don't punch. They use their Palms and claws.

If a woman tries to fight me I'll defend myself without hurting her if possible and if I have to hurt her to defend myself so be it.

There's no joy in beating up a woman.

If I open a door for my woman it's not because she's lame in the hand, its because it's a gesture that shows I care.

Are you referring to your dad?

Wow! What did he do to you? Did he rape you through the anus or something?

Sorry you had to go through that.

But next time keep away from the internet when you're going through your usual PTSD. OK?

Really?

It seems when people hear 'equality' and 'feminism', logic flies out of the window.

A lecturer visiting her husband weekly when she obviously has the lesser workload is 'inequality'
lol. equity should be the fight not equality. trying to be equal to anyone is limiting yourself t OK the person's ability.
she created the less workload so she could visit him. why won't she ask him to do same since she is a "feminist"?
y'all be deceiving young ladies and preaching feminism yet you all run after men like slaves begging for masters!
feminism my ass. I am who I am.

Sensational headline!

She said holding doors shouldn't be a gender thing. We should hold doors for each other, or anyone that needs such help...not just because she is a woman!

She went on to add that, in the event of danger---the first set of people to be evacuated should be those that are weak/unwell. Not only women and children.

Protect those that need protection, irrespective of their gender.
