The Federal Government has given reasons why it believes the former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki (retd), should not be granted bail.

The Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami, SAN, said Mr Dasuki’s personal right can be violated for the larger public good.

Malami in a new interview with the Voice of America, Hausa, published on July 13 just obtained by PREMIUM TIMES, said “What I want you to know is that issues concerning law and order under Muhammadu Buhari are sacrosanct and obeying court order is compulsory.

“However you should also know that there is a general consensus world over that where the dispute is only between individuals, then you can consider the issue based on the instant situation. But if the dispute is about an issue that affects an entire nation, then you have to remember that government is about the people not for only an individual.

“So you have to look at it from this perspective. If the issue about an individual coincides with that which affects the people of a nation and you are now saying the government did not obey a court order that infringes on a single person’s rights. Remember we are talking about a person who was instrumental to the deaths of over one hundred thousand people. Are you saying that the rights of one person is more important than that of 100,000 who lost their lives?

“Reports have shown that there was massive mismanagement of funds meant for military hardware which the military could not access and that led to the death of many, embezzlement of the fund and because of that many people have lost their lives. Obeying the court is not the issue per say. Are we going to take the issue of an individual more important than that of the people?

The government’s main responsibility is for and about the people. The essence of governance is to better the lives of its people. So you have to weigh it based on that; the rights of an individual or the rights of the people.”
Mr Malami however, said the government may decide to appeal the court order if it feels compelled to do so.

lame excuse for tyranny
even after his passports have been seized by the courts.

buhari is on a revenge mission against dasuki same way they have been on revenge killing the defenseless people of Benue and plateau.

If not why did buhari and his government take him to court if they cannot abide by court processes.

Malami simple doest respect rule of law. He acts like he doesnt even care to appeal judgement. If they feel this guy is such a flight risk or danger to society they should put him on house arrest and make him wear an ankle moniter.

“Our cooperation with the Court is borne out of our strong belief in the respect for the rule of law and human rights, and in our firm commitment to the sanctity of fundamental freedoms at international and domestic levels, as ingrained in the objectives for establishing the Court,” Mr Buhari said.

What the elders saw 39 years ago... the youths still made same mistake. I might be going off topic but

39 years ago... thirty nine.. as in three and nine.
That is if a child was born then, he is 39 years old, one year away from the dreaded 40.

Celebrated 39 year olds regarded as old:

Kevin heart
Usher
Kobe bryant
John legend
Tyrese gibson
Brandy

Many APC fooĺs will support this without realising the bad precedence being set by buhari.

Buhari has kept showing that he sees the laws of our land as mere suggestions...but that is not even the issue here. The issue here is the millions of people who support a man who has done nothing to move the nation forward but instead has done everything to jeopadise the little peace we still enjoy by constantly supporting criminals in his circle, fighting opposition blindly and treating his fellow country men (se and ss) as enemies.

Lai Mohammed once stated that the reason why the FG will not obey court orders granting Dasuki bail was because Dasuki is a Prince from Sokoto who if released may instigate his people against the govt. I sh!t you not.

Why is it that we always try to shield the problem and start calling the wrong names ...What has Malami got to do with this ? Isn't obvious that even he is confused why his boss doesn't want to let Dasuki out despite numerous court rulings... Buhari is the problem here and as long as you guys continue to shield him like some baby Nigeria can't make progress ...

The same AGF that has mandated the NFF to comply with the court order reinstating Giwa as the duly elected President of the federation is still the the AGF that has continuously disobeyed several court orders in the Dasuki case. Why the double standard? what is good for the goose is good for the gander.
This Dasuki case irks of personal vendetta by this hypocritical government.

Dont speak for Malami he made his arguement and spoke freely. What part of his statement tells you he's confused about or disagrees with his bosses actions. If you want to blame buhari as do so with removing his agency.

“So you have to look at it from this perspective. If the issue about an individual coincides with that which affects the people of a nation and you are now saying the government did not obey a court order that infringes on a single person’s rights.

Obeying the court is not the issue per say

Sometimes I wonder where the Attorney General of the Federation read his own law and how he became a SAN. Each time he speaks, he turns the law upside down. This was not the kind of law principles we studied and practised several years ago.

Malami refused to quote the relevant law backing the government stance on this Dasuki case. If you disagree with the judgement, proceed to a court of appeal. The govenrnment cannot be selective in the court judgement to obey, it will only lead to anarchy. This is absolute unacceptable.

The government should remember about precedence and consequence. Nobody has monopoly of power forever. Fayose's case is still very fresh in mind. Just 4 years later, he is now at the receiving end of all and more than he dished out to the opposotion when he was in power.

Today, it is Dasuki, Buhari and his cabinet members do not know whose turn it might tomorrow.

What goes around comes around.

Malami, who are we going to hold responsible for the needless massacre of innocent people (including children) going on in Benue, Plateau, Taraba, Zamfara, Kaduna, and now, Sokoto? Needless to mention that Boko Haram is still killing daily in the Northeast despite huge allocations and loans taken for a supposed fight against terrorism?
The Government cannot hold him forever if they can't prove a case against him. It's been three years. If the government is still finding it difficult to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt and lock him up for as long as he deserves, I think it's high time they obeyed the court order.

In all honesty, it pierces my heart to see the huge number of people who still support buhari and chant his praise , They have chosen to be blind to his unethical style of rule and unfortunately, the sane people who know this man will keep destroying the country will be left to suffer alongside just because of the foolishness of some set of people, Nigeria cannot be a great nation when we have nincompoops ruling this country and Zombies supporting them senselessly. This government has brought notin but more pain to nigerians, the rule of law is no longer respected and has become a family affair where u only enjoy when u join them but will be persecuted when u speak against them, I see many of this evil Government supporters like one who calls himslef Sarrki or is it the Barbeque seller or anoda one called hungerbad, and there are so many other who are like them, supporting evil just because of their greed, selfishness and most of the rest, probably lack of sense. When you speak the truth, they call u hater, Ipob, etc.

We will start to place a curse on all these evil people who have chosen to be a partway to Nigeria being destroyed. we Rain the hardship in the country into the lives of everyone supporting this evil government and the destruction of Nigeria, Sickness, poverty and lack shall be their portion until they repent and start to support the growth of this nation,

I dont care if am banned but as long as u support evil, evil shall take your home as its dwelling place.

I know someday, Nigeria will be great again.
