Believe me apc did that because they have already sensed their fall by next year cheesy cheesy they will even do more of that, probably increase the minimum wage to 85k just to incur huge responsibility for the incoming administration, if (God forbid) apc finds themselves in power by 2019, I tell you they will undo all the things they put in place with the view to punish PDP. Those people are naturally evil.

Meanwhile.....

But last week by-elections proved otherwise.

What most of the people commenting above failed to realise is that the only way Nigeria can develop a through redistribution of the Nation wealth. This is the only way business can thrive. The major problems of Nigeria and Africa as a whole is the fact that the purchasing power of the huge population is almost zero. They can't afford new technology. The nation resources is in hand of few who will never patronise local biz but are obsessed with imported goods

This government is doing redistribution right from it's inception in 2015 but turn by turn based on availability of resources.

The farmers were the first set of people to enjoy this. Remember Kebbi rice farmers and Cocoa farmers. Also fertilizer made available for all farmers without middle men

The school lunch program for children of the poor in public school. This apart from the 5k per month for the extremely poor individual.

All these didn't start this year.
It's call social policy.

Then the unemployed youth through N power. Now it is the turn of the Corpers.

The civil servants already have access to housing loan without equity contribution and soon will have a new salary.

This was not possible before because only one person will collect the money belonging to a whole community and pocket it .

If this was done during the 16 wasted years of PDP,, it would have been a great story of development

This should be tag the best comment of the year
Sai Baba till 2023

Rubbish post/News. Even if it were true, post NYSC life will soon dawn on them. sad

When elections don near....anything to win votes. I will keep saying it no politician does anything without an ulterior motive.

NB: I am apolitical.

Half baked graduates sorry illiterates.
It is even more disheartening that all these derogatory comments the older ones use to discredit the youth now seem to be infiltrating our minds really. We are sadly becoming disillusioned. An unfortunate young person referring to NYSC members as "half baked graduates", "illiterates" and a lot of other shallow minded ones are in agreement with him.
Nigeria please, wake up and save yourself!

While I support 50K should be paid to corpers coz it is short term, reviewing minimum wage as high as that will be disastrous to inflationary pressure in Nigeria. Buhari must not increase minimum wage above 25K if he is wise, Nigerian market women and men are fond of increasing the prices of their goods and services in the event like this which will almost negate the effect of higher pay on workers, and cause the naira to slide against dollar. After all these workers are not being paid regularly by their various states, I know of a state owing up to 7 months in outstanding payment, if these monies are released, even the 18K minimum wage will suffice. The way forward for Nigeria is innovation and technology which will start with youth entrepreneurship supported by higher pay for youth corps. A wise corper should know the 50k allawe is not for party and frolicking, it is for safekeeping for future business ideas.

Your comment is duly noted however I would have to point put that wealth re-distribution - a la Manslow's definition as Economists know it, is not really what is at play here.
This so called increase will only lead to a commensurate increase in inflation of staple food items.
Plus the fact that it may just not be sustainable.
Look at the civil service, how much is the minimum wage in this country where you are now paying first class civil servants (govt pickin) N50k.
Does it mean now that those of the public sector will also increase? How do we pay for this?
What about the huge backlog already being owed civil servants on amounts that the country can even afford?
This is a political strategy to garner support from certain class of voters and possibly dovetail to their parents as well.
Let's not beat around the bush with words.
Buhari is likely not even aware of the concept you are trying to portray here talk less of implementing it.
