Each government always uses something to score points.
These things are for the good of the citizens but ultimately for the politician, it is just for points and not that they really care.
And which better way is there to score points than to look for something neglected by the past government to do so that people will say they are better than the previous government. This practice cuts across parties as long as it is politicians we are talking about.

The citizens are usually at their mercy.

One good thing about pre-election year is that the government begins to pay outstanding debts owed to citizens so that they can buy their favour and be voted back.

Buhari cleared almost all outstanding promotion arrears and other allowances due to civil servants since 2011 last year. Claims that were accumulated under the Jonathan administration. Dirty PDP propaganda apart, Buhari is the most committed president to workers welfare in the history of this country. He's not the kind of person that plays politics with workers entitlements.

The president should be commended for settling the debt the nation owes those retirees however he should that crooked civil servants do not frustrate the entire process.

This is a good move by the federal government, this will improve the standard of living not only in that sector but in Nigeria at large. The president should be commended for settling the debt the nation owes those retirees . the change movement is really taking its course.

Nonsense "push and start" President.

He met a depleted foreign reserves at $27b and the nation was weighed down by so much debt which the past administration dumped on him.

He had to set priorities and build up our finances before taking on so much debt payment.

He now feels its time to pay these ones but can only afford half for now.

You want him to handle immediately what PDP abandoned for 15 years.
