…gives party 7-day ultimatum

The leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), also known as the Biafra Independent Movement (BIM), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has attacked the leadership of the All Progressive Grand Alli­ance, APGA, for denying Bianca Ojukwu, wife of the late Biafra warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Anambra South Senatorial ticket.

A furious Uwazuruike who announced his withdrawal of support from APGA also gave the party a seven-day ultimatum to delete photographs of the late Biafran leader from its campaign billboards, banners, posters, vehi­cles, among others.

Passing a vote of no-confidence on the APGA leadership led by Chief Victor Oye, Uwazuruike, re­iterated that Ojukwu, remained the symbol of the Igbo, whether living or dead. He wondered why the party leadership could allow Ojukwu’s wife to be denied sena­torial ticket.

“If Ojukwu could be disgraced by APGA, the Igbo have been disgraced”, Uwazuruike fumed, while describing the treatment allegedly meted out to Bianca Ojukwu as embarrassing and an abomination.

The Biafran leader regretted that it was only in Igbo land that such a high profiled personality like Dim Ojukwu would receive such a disgraceful party prima­ries from APGA party which he struggled hard to build.

He added that following that denial, “as far as BIM-MASSOB members are concerned the little party (APGA) is dead”.

“As far as APGA political party and its leaders have no respect for Dim Ojukwu, APGA is dead and ceases to be (an) Igbo party from today. APGA is now a cursed party; shame to APGA; shame to the new cabal”.

He warned members that “any BIM- MASSOB member who will vote for APGA after today must die”

In a press statement issued after the group’s meeting at Ojukwu memorial library, new Owerri, the Imo state capital and signed by Mazi Chris Anierobi Mocha, Uwazuruike also banned APGA from the use of Ojukwu’s picture for political rallies or cam­paigns in the South East zone, Rivers, Delta states and other states where APGA has political structures.
