State creation, is just another way to break down states into something more like functional local governments. Abi, wetin una think?  And, come to think of it, if possible, turn the so-called (lame) local government councils we have now into district areas or councils.  It could be a (very effective) way of bringing government closer to the people.

Its not all doom and gloom i think.  Just a bit more creative thinking can make the most of a tricky situation.  Lets face it, the politicians have notthing good in mind, when they talk about creating states to meet the yearning of the people.  Most of the so-called people have no idea how states work, or are meant to raise finance to function.

Common sense tells me that he people canvassing for this State creation thing are stil the same bunch of corrupt and self-seeking elites who are simply pandering to their ego and status.The commoner/average Nigerian is simply asking not for State creation but for:Food,Shelter,Clothing,Employment,Good healthcare,Quality Education,Security,Electricity.THAT IS ALL WE NEED AND ARE ASKING FOR.

Time has come for us to disband this contraptions called 36-states and revert back to what was in the 1st republic -an era which i refer as the glorious era of this country

iF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY LIKE THEY CAN MAKE EACH LOCAL GOVT A STATE. I can only support more state if they will ensure each state control and generate its resources without allocation from Abuja.
State creation is just JOB creation for politicians. Let states generate their own fund to run their affairs, then the National assembly will start talking of state merging.
It's unfortunate that we still have this set of politicians ruling in Nigeria.
The states we need are- Yoruba state, Lagos state, Hausa/fulani state, Ibo State, Ijaw state, south-south (other southern tribes), Midwest (Edo and Delta), Kanuri state, North central(Kaduna, benue, Non-yoruba in kwara and Kogi), North East(others apart from Kanuris), North west (other non-hausas in the north west), Abuja state (lagos and Abuja being former and present capital retain the status as every Nigerians land).
BUT THE ABOVE WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE DESPITE THE SUGGESTION OF PA ENAHORO'S MNR !!.

The only state that should be created is Anioma state. That is all. The Delta Igbo need their own state.

They creating more states but won't give them full authority to run themselves , Need to decentralize the Power supply / PHCN (instead its federal) - need to decentralze the police (instead its federal) , and many more.

So what is the big deal - how are you bringing the govt closer to the people by state creation? They are simply creating more room to distribute our money to thier long-list of brothers and sisters that have not yet been issued as commisioners and state governors / assistants, to chop their own money.

Abeg when them finishfor Kaduna make them come create an Emohua state for my home town and surrounding community for inside Rivers. As we could use a state there too.

Ibadan as a single city is almost bigger than some state if one were to take some outline villages which are 10 to 15 km from Ibadan. Towns like Omi-Adio, Asejire, Monatan, Abanla and other villages on the old Lagos Road, Abeokuta road and Iwo Road.
