Deconstructing The Myth That Buhari is Popular Enough to Win a Free and Fair Election By Reno Omokri The big news coming out of last week is President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to sign the amended Electoral Act. In all the emotions and outrage from various groups about this anti democratic action by the President, many have failed to logically ask and answer the poignant question, why does Buhari not want to sign the Electoral Act? Forget about the flimsy reason he gave in his letter to the Senate, the real reason is much more sinister. The real reason MuhammadU Buhari DOES NOT want to sign the Electoral Act is because 75% of the FACELESS voters who voted without PVCs in 2015, voted for Buhari. That is how he rigged his way into power in 2015 and that is what the new Electoral Act will stop. 13.2 million people voted without PVCs and adequate identification and 10 million of them voted for Buhari. His refusal to sign the amended Electoral Act is proof positive that Buhari wants to repeat his electoral robbery in 2019. Many Nigerians do not really know how politically vulnerable and thus desperate Buhari is and I will try to break it down. The talk about Buhari being undefeat-able in the North is a ruse. If you scientifically study every Nigerian election since 2003 like a science, you will see that Buhari does not control the North. Yes, he has had a captive audience in the Northwest, but that is because he has mostly ran against Southerners. Buhari defeated former President Obasanjo in the Northwest in 2003 and defeated ex President Jonathan in the there in 2011 and 2015. But study the 2007 elections when he ran against a fellow Northerner. He was defeated in the NW. Defeated in Katsina. Defeated in Daura, his hometown. BUHARI HAS NEVER DEFEATED A MAJOR NORTHERN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE IN THE NORTH. The fact is that when Buhari’s opponent in an election is a Northerner from a major party, he does not have the ability swing the North and especially the Northwest behind him. Now consider that Google just released its search data for the year 2018 and it showed that Atiku Abuh is the most searched individual in Nigeria. He was searched more than even the nation’s top celebrities. But that is even half the story. The other half of the story is that President Muhammadu Buhari, who controls all the government owned media, does not even feature in the top 10 of most searched individuals. Apparently, Nigerians have no interest in their President or his party and policies. This is a major headache for the President’s handlers and it means that the only option open to them is rigging. Now, I talked about the Northwest, but what about the Northeast which is the zone that traditionally gives the President his second highest swathe of votes? Contrary to the rosy picture painted by the propagandists of this administration and by the President himself, there is widespread disillusionment against the President and against his party in the Northeast. The recent eye witness revelations by Hon. Sani Mohammed, about the true state of things in the Northeast should serve as an eye opener to those who are expecting the President to effortlessly carry the Northeast. Hon. Sani Mohammed, an All Progressive Congress chieftain and chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Humanitarian Affairs, has revealed that the government has been lying to the Nigerian people about its ‘victory’ over Boko Haram and that contrary to their claims, the Northeast geopolitical zone has “failed” under Buhari and he feared that such failure could affect other parts of the country. Given this sorry state of affairs in the state of national security under Muhammadu Buhari, and given that the Global Terrorism Index has rated Nigeria under Buhari the third most terrorised nation in the world, which is a retrogression from the Jonathan era, any hope of President Buhari and the APC for a clean sweep in the Northeast is delusional at best. It is also quite obvious to Nigerians that a President who went to Paris to publicly praise a man who was caught on camera stuffing dollars into his babanriga and returned home to authorise the Economic and Financial Crimes to freeze the account of Mr. Peter Obi, the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP does not have much integrity to boast about. That is why the All Progressive Congress has dialled back on using Buhari to campaign and have instead focused its re-election efforts on Vice President Osinbajo and his Trader Moni bribery scheme. But even here, they also have a problem because the dirty deals of the Vice President, as exposed in his indictment by the House of Representatives in a 5.8 billion Naira scam has put what is known as a K-leg to his so called moral authority as a pastor. The fact remains that in the Middle-Belt and the South, those Nigerians that voted for Muhammadu Buhari In 2015 are alienated from him due to his obvious nepotism and biased stance in the herdsmen/farmers clashes that led to the famous ‘giving land for ranching is better than death’ statement from the Presidency. Furthermore, they have watched as this government continues to celebrate Babachir Lawal, a man caught red handed stealing funds meant for Internally Displaced Persons. They remember that this is a government that returned, reinstated and double promoted Abdulrasheed Maina, the biggest thief ever in Nigeria’s civil service history. These individuals have not had their accounts frozen, yet Peter Obi, a specimen of good governance, frugality and thrift, has his accounts frozen. And the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission itself has lost so much integrity under Buhari that it is now almost a liability. The EFCC is headed by Ibrahim Magu, who appeared on a Television show, Sunrise Daily, on Channels Television on Tuesday May 15, 2018, while wearing a Buhari re-election lapel pin. No one in Nigeria believes that such a man can be impartial. Nigerians are painfully aware that despite the President’s attempt to bribe his wife into silence by appointing her into a juicy government committee, the First Lady’s call on Nigerian men to rescue her husband from the grip of a two man cabal that is holding him to ransom still troubles many Nigerians. The feeling is that if Buhari needs Nigerians to rescue him from just two men, how can he rescue them from Boko Haram in the Northeast and from bandits in the Northwest? His wife has completely shattered the strong man image he had in 2015. I actually doubted this Jubril from Sudan story, but after Aisha Buhari said two men control her husband, I started to think. Would the old/real Buhari have gone to Paris to praise crooked Kano Governor Umar Ganduje and return to Nigeria to freeze honest Peter Obi’s account? This just does not seem like Buhari! He may be the same man physically, but emotionally, mentally and spiritually, this is another Buhari. Reno’s Nuggets Stop looking for money. Money is not looking for you. Money is looking for ideas. From 1999 up till 2015 Despite our romance with corruption both in the public and corporate environments... I've never seen things so rough for people like its been post 2015. So much hunger, anguish, pain, suffering, uncertainty. The few keeps getting richer, the majority keeps getting poorer. The next election is going to be a choice between growth, a robust economy, affordability of products, services and balanced means of livelihood on one hand and retrogression, tyranny, lack of transparency, lack of equity, judicial bias, mediocrity, nepotism, tribal/ethno-religious politics. You will know them because when they see good efforts of government they applaud. The following are their traits: * They lie and mislead others with statements as 'I regret voting Buhari', etc a cliche they started using as early as few months into the Buhari government. To them it doesn't matter that the last government looted the treasury and Buhari met an empty treasury...they will say 'we voted him because he said he will change the nation in '3 months  ? (Don't bother to ask for proof, lying is their trademark)* They are the one who swore on their father's head that Buhari died in Aso rock, and later in UK. Then they said the Buhari that returned to Nigeria is a clone (duplicate) and you still take cognizance of what comes out of these peoples mouth. * They were the ones who said 8 years was not enough for OBJ, and 6 not enough for GEJ etc They are the arijenimadaru - beneficiaries of corruption. They are either the full time politicians, corrupt civil servants, journalists, bankers, fraudulent contractors, religious businessmen etc Its no longer business Aa usual, so they pretend that they are fighting for ordinary Nigerians (iro nla!!!) * When you remind them of how corruption in last government has ruined the nation....they ask you to stop talking about the past * When you say Buhari is a man of integrity and his fighting corruption...they say his son has a power bike * When Evans the kidnapper say something against Buhari, he becomes an hero. When you say their heroes and spokespersons lack integrity (IBB, OBJ, Fayose, FFK, Saraki, GEJ, etc)...then they say look at the message not the messenger Aa' what meaningful words do the robber want to utter?) *They are not interested in any development in Nigeria, if it means ascribing any success to PMB. * Every good news of the nation brings them sadness, and they remain quiet until another bad news crops up * If you tell them Buhari is building over 300 roads all over Nigeria, they say it is because of 2019. * Tell them Buhari is developing the rail system all over Nigeria, they say it is not his initiative that Obasanjo and GEJ had plans to do it. * Inform them about the agricultural revolution how Nigeria now produces its local food and has become a foremost world exporter of food, they say it is Obasanjo that started Operation feed the nation in the 70s (God have mercy!!!) * When you say Buhari is working to completing abandoned projects, over 8000 nationwide (Mambila hydro power, Ajaokuta Steel Plant etc), they say it is because he has no program of his own. * Refute their allegations that Buhari is tribalistic with how his ministerial cabinets now (and as military head of state) had more Christians than Muslims, and how powerful ministries were being run by southerners...they hold their breath and in the next statement still repeat the allegation (it is an obsession) * They say Buhari is vindictive..., but no state or region has been denied their share of development projects irrespective of whether they support PMB government or not. He has taken 13b water project to Otuoke in GEJs village Bayelsa, N22b road to Atikus village in Adamawa, reconstruction of Lagos Abeokuta expressway to OBJs state, the 2nd Niger Bridge etc to the east, the massive investment and redevelopment of the Niger-Delta etc are part of the proof of PMBs fairness to all [b]* When the clampdown on corruption started, they said only southerners are being harassed, when Dasuki etc were arrested they say it is only PDP; when Saraki was taken to court they say it is because he is in opposition; when former governors and APC members were jailed (Dariye and Nyame ) they say it was PDP that started the probe.. ??* When EFCC is investigating the massive investments and dollars accounts of Mrs Patience Jonathan, Alison Maduekwe etc.... they say it is political harassment and you should bring proof of corruption. But when they bring scandalously stupid allegations like Buhari has bought the national stadium etc and you ask for proof ....they say you are a [/b]fanatic. * Tell them how the threats of IPOB, Niger Delta were curtailed, they say it is a clampdown on Igbo's and southerners; remind them of how the menace of El Zakyzaky and his Shiites group of the norths have been curbed.... they say it is coercion. * Remind them how the dreaded Boko Haram has been chased away from the States that they use to control in the north and how normalcy is returning to those part of the country.... they will still refer to the occasional suicide bombings as proof that nothing is achieved. Tell them how it has been impossible for even almighty US etc to totally stop suicide bombings ..... they retort 'are you now comparing this 'S**t nation to US' (Of course not, US do not have plenty bad belle-hypocrites as them as citizens) * Tell them how herdsmen killings preceded PMB, and how many non Fulani herdsmen have been arrested by the army for killings, including a personal aide to Governor Ortom, and how since such arrests the killings have subside.... they still in the next statement like a broken record refer to Buhari as promoting herdsmen killers. * Tell them about the resuscitation of the mambila project, the Ajaokuta steel project, etc, they say it is a lie * Show them videos and pictures of ongoing development nationwide, they say its photo and video shop ( ??)* Tell them how Buhari stopped the billion dollars fertiliser scam and how in its place 11 local fertiliser companies were revived resulting in Nigeria producing for its local needs...they say 'how does that translates to food for the common man?' (Kai ba sense?!!!) * When Buhari agreed to pay 88billion compensation to Biafrans victims, granted autonomy to state judiciary, supports local government autonomy, recognised MKO and June 12 they say it is politics. (And like the daughter of our hero of democracy said, if Buhari does not play politics, should he play chemistry?) * They say Nigeria don't want Buhari, and he will lose the election landslide, and they are writing abosi-hypocrirical letters that he should not contest (Do they want to save him from disgrace ni, abi what's there own? (Awon oni yeye : jesters all of them) * To them the National Assembly members used to be all (APC) rogues, but now without doing any good thing but because they now oppose PMB they have become their heroes; from the clown Dino, to the Michael Jackson of Osun, the stupendously corrupt and wealthy Saraki, Mark, Dogara etc ( Its a case of show me your friend/hero/and I know what kind of person you are) * Buhari has refused like previous governments to bribe legislators to do their duties, and since their dirty strategies is no longer working they have become a stumbling block to progress...the wailers will say if it was OBJ he would have dealt with them. (But if he had use any other means they will say he is undemocratic; two sided mouth people) * If you call a thief by its name, they will say how can you be insulting an honourable, a distinguished senator, a former president who has fought poverty through farming etc, but hear them when they refer to Mr president, 'the man is a m***n, he is brain dead, he is d*ft' etc. But this man has proven to be better than them all, he has refused to respond to the tantrums of their bosses, the OBJs, IBB, etc Like a true soldier he marches on with the good works, and God has been his defense. * When you show some of them the unparalleled efforts of this government in development compared to all the past governments, then you will hear....well he has tried but I still don't like him, he is too old, he is slow, he is unintelligent, he is not outspoken etc... Reno Omokri and his fellow dunces think our memory of the last Pdp regime have been erased. Is these worse than the thousands of job seekers stampeded to death under Jonathan's regime? Was there job then? Is it worse than the several daily queue at the filling stations under Jonathan, when everything practically stopped working? Or the deregulation and selling of our power discos to thieves and so-on? Or the fact that we were already entering into recession despite the high dollar rate Petrol was selling then? What about the looting of our treasure and reserve which led us into recession? The insecurities on daily basis nkor?And so-on You may have forgotten all these but I didn't and I say never again. We're certainly doing better even when the country is earning 60% less than the previous regime. The previous regime failed to save during our rainy season when petrol was selling at high dollar rate but rather, they looted everythin.. That said, seems Nairaland Mods are working for the Pdp. Xisnin: Jonathan lost because he surrounded himself with people like Reno, Asari, FFK, etc. These are people who can't get him votes and constantly cause trouble for him. TRUE CONFESSION from : People have been asking how much we were paid to campaign for Buhari , We always deny the allegation. The new year is around the corner and we want to come clean. Yes we were paid to campaign for Buhari Buhari himself paid us. He paid us when he started completing abandoned projects, he paid us when he paid pensioners, he paid us when after 35 years of paper work he finally brought a train to Warri. You see that Borno that is ravaged by Boko Haram which started under PDP, they are fully APC. In fact, PDP candidates in the area are not even campaigning. You can ask anyone in the area. Atiku's stronghold is in the SE. You see that SE, they presently have the lowest number of voter registration in Nigeria. They refused to register because they were short-sighted and didn't know that an Igbo man would be on the ballot. Now, it's too late, their numbers are the lowest in the entire country. The talk about Buhari being undefeat-able in the North is a ruse. If you scientifically study every Nigerian election since 2003 like a science, you will see that Buhari does not control the North. Even with our collective resources he continues to lavish, a conscious and moral mind will still not vote for Mr President! Fulani her dmen has taken the back seat, Bokoharam has resurfaced with full force! None has he condemned in strong term! Instead he makes excuses for them and release them.
