Tinubu asked, "Which Hamzat are you?" and he told Tinubu who his father was (his father was one of Jakande's commissioners).

He later came back to Nigeria and worked for OANDO. By coincidence, when he eventually joined the government, it was Sanwo-olu that showed him round the offices. He wasn't assigned to do it, he just decided to do it and they've been friends since then.

Jimi Disu: What will be your role as deputy governor?

Obafemi Hamzat: There's a tradition of assigning portfolios to the deputy governor. Sarah Sosan was also the commissioner of education (he lists other deputy governors that held positions).

He said that you are not only moving sand when you build roads in Lagos, but you are also moving water. He said therefore you must plan where you discharge the water to. He said that asphalt is a chemical and it will dissolve if it mixes with water. So therefore, the drainages are very important.
