Way to go Buhari.

I never thought you had it in you to do the needful. Our laws have been turned upside down and loopholes have been found and created everywhere around the constitution.

The president who enjoys very detailed immunity from the constitution is not protected against criminal prosecution but Judges want to prevent themselves from all prosecution whether criminal or otherwise. Its wrong, the section of the constitution the judges are using to shield the CJN doesnot intend to give such kind of immunity to any Nigerian.

How can the CJN admit to a crime but is defended by Nigerians. Have we sold our conscience for tribalism and political affiliation?

For me, I would never support corruption or a corrupt individual.

Onnoghen plan to inaugurate Election Tribunal tomorrow even when we've not had the election.

I beg, I no be lawyer, between election petition tribunal and general election, which one should come first?

I've been voting since 1983 and Election Tribunal usually constituted after the election had taken place.

See also the recent Tribunals at Ado Ekiti and Oshogbo set up after the elections.

Now, why would Onnoghen want to inaugurate Election Tribunal tomorrow even when the election is in 3 weeks time?

Onnoghen definitely has something up his sleeve.
he has bn duly contracted to do a hatchet job for d pdp

Why obey CCT halted by a higher court for Christ's sake. Constitutionally, Onoghen should still be the CJN until found guilty or otherwise before the next step is taken.

And come to think of it, the CCT judge also has a bribery case with the EFCC. Why was he not suspended? And one idiot is here saying that the President derived his power to suspend Onoghen from the fact that Onoghen admitted...what nonsense!

This man just pissed on our constitution walai

@POLITICSNGR

Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has described the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Walter Onoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari, as a coup against democracy and a deliberate attempt to endanger our hard-won democracy.

PoliticsNGR gathered that Saraki, in a statement personally signed by him stated that the suspension was another act of desperation by President Buhari. He noted that by the suspension of the CJN, Buhari has acted outside the provision of the constitution, has exercised the powers which he does not have and that this action amounted to gross misconduct.

“This is an action aimed at undermtining the nation’s judiciary, subverting the constitution, intimidating judges of all the courts of record, and creating uncertainty in the electoral process, thereby laying the foundation for influencing the outcome of litigations that might arise from next month’s elections.

“There are already the general belief that this hasty action was taken to pre-empt the already scheduled inauguration of election petition tribunals by Hon. Justice Onoghen and to destroy national institutions that are perceived to be unco-operative in his bid to manipulate the electoral process leading to next month’s general elections.

“By unilaterally suspending the CJN without following the provision of the constitution, President Buhari has taken an action which amounted to gross misconduct. He has simply sent a dangerous signal to the entire world that Nigeria is no longer a democratic nation and that we have returned to the old, jaded era of military dictatorship .

“Our constitution makes no provision for suspension of the nation’s highest judicial officer. The constitution provides a clear process for removal of the CJN and specify the roles of the three arms of government, beginning from the National Judicial Council (NJC), the National Assembly and lastly, the Presidency, have different roles to play in that process. There is no condition under which the President can usurp the powers of other arms of government. I do not know where the President and his advisers got this idea of suspending the CJN on the so-called order of the Code of Conduct Tribunal but this is novel, disingenuous and alien to our laws.

“The President and his team must have seen this so-called suspension as a short-cut to getting Hon. Justice Onnoghen out of the way since the appellate court has eventually stopped the CCT from continuing with the trial of the CJN. It is strange that President Buhari is claiming to be taking orders from a Tribunal which has been ordered by a superior court to halt all actions on the trial.

“With this action, President Buhari has initiated a process the consequence of which nobody can predict. They have precipitated a constitutional crisis.

“At this point, all democratic institutions in the country, the international community and democrats across the world should rise against this blatant act of impunity. We should jointly condemn this retrogressive, uncivilized and despotic measure”, Saraki stated.

He however called on President Buhari to immediately reverse this decision and allow the due process of law to take its natural course in determining the guilt or otherwise as well as the suitability of Hon. Justice Onnoghen to continue as the head of the nation’s judiciary.

selective justice is called with hunting and that is no justice.

Two kids fought. You smart one and pardon the other. Two murders killed a,man, you killed one and pardoned the other. what's the justice in that?

Who pardoned Kemi Adeosun?

Who are the 2 kids, do we have 2 CJN's?

Did Kemi Adeosun fight the CJN?

Your analogy does not hold water. It would have been better if you say one neighbourhood kid stole, he was not caught. Another kid stole, he gets caught and gets jungle justice. Would you say that because thief 1 got away so thief 2 should must be freed?

Forget that forged certificate shit, that's the way things work in Nigeria. Most times official government documents are declared fake, even when obtained from official quarters. A neighbour working at alausa once helped process a driving license, on going to lasma office for renewal after it expired, I was informed it was fake. You will be surprised how many people are carrying fake drivers licence without knowing it.

Even one of my staff was said to be paying his NEPA bills with fake bills last week. After Ikeja disco installed prepaid meter, the officials who were contractors and not exactly Ikeja Electric officials informed the guy that they don't have records of his bill, that on record, the two flats are sharing one bill. Meanwhile he has been paying with that bill for the past 2 years with a debt of over N130,000 still on it.

Cry me a waterfall saraki. Mr President has been handed the right to suspend the CJN by the CJN himself when he admitted in writing that he "forgot " to declare his assets which is against the law.

He thus cannot be a judge in his own case.

Blame the CJN and not Buhari.

Plus the constitution of Nigeria as you rightfully observed is silent regarding suspension but clear when it comes to removal. Thus it places no limitations on Mr President when it comes to suspending the CJN. It only does so when it comes to removal.

Case closed.

Illiterate, do u know the law?
