Thanks Ijebuman & Angelgal. I had married man by Skyy on LP until one of my friends borrowed it (together with Central Line) and never brought it back.

Skyyjammer is really cool, especially the start….. My top Skyy tracks are High (Excellent Start), Show me the way, Here’s to you & then call me

Robert kool bell, JT – Kool & the gang fame. I am a big Kool & The gang fan. My best is Hi di Hi, Hi de ho, followed closely by Love Festival. I wasn’t a big fan of Fresh…

Kool and the gang was one of my favourite groups from the 80s as well , James 'JT' Taylor was the best cheesy, loved Stand up and sing, Jones vs Jones, Get down on it, Straight ahead, Love festival and Ladies night

@ababoy1
the Fresh album (Emergency) was really for the 'pop' market, i wasn't a big fan of Cherish...

Hey i will like to know if any of you know something about Shirley Bassey (that half Nigerian), i have only been able to hear her "Diamonds are forever" as a remix on Kanye West albums.
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by Angelgal(f): 12:14pm On Feb 07, 2006
@joftech: Dude I don't think we'd know much or infact anything about Shirley Bassey...she is most definitely our parents generation. Her kind of music too...

Lionel Richie
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by ababoy1(m): 3:34pm On Feb 07, 2006
Ijebuman - Sure New Edition. How can one forget "Cool it now" or "My Secret"

One guy I liked in the 80s was Carl Carlton. One of his tracks "Swing That Sexy Thing" remains one of my all time best, if not the best.
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by snazzydawn(f): 4:12pm On Feb 07, 2006

She's a bad mama jama
This no doubt will remain one of the greatest albums of the 80's
Bless you man, I feel so strongly for this album and a few others like Willie Hucth, and Nile Rogers.
They will remain special to me.

Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by snazzydawn(f): 9:58am On Feb 10, 2006
how about this song by Kenny Rogers"write my name across your heart"

write your name
across my heart
I want the world to know that I am yours forever
and I will wear it
like a shining star
write your name
across my heart
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by nferyn(m): 6:06pm On Feb 10, 2006
Then I like Sign Your Name by Terence Trent D'Arby better:

Fortunately you have got
Someone who relies on you
We started out as friends
But the thought of you just caves me in
The symptoms are so deep
It is so much too late to turn away
We started out as friends

Sign your name
Across my heart
I want you to be my baby
Sign your name
Across my heart
I want you to be my lady

Time I'm sure will bring
Disappointments in so many things
It seems to be the way
When your gambling cards on love you play
I'd rather be in Hell with you baby
Than in cool Heaven
It seems to be the way

Sign your name
Across my heart
I want you to be my baby
Sign your name
Across my heart
I want you to be my lady

Birds never look into the sun
Before the day is gone
But oh the light shines brighter
On a peaceful day
Stranger blue leave us alone
We don't want to deal with you
We'll shed our stains showering
In the room that makes the rain

All alone with you
Makes the butterflies in me arise
Slowly we make love
And the Earth rotates
To our dictates
Slowly we make love

Sign your name
Across my heart
I want you to be my baby
Sign your name
Across my heart
I want you to be my lady

Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by snazzydawn(f): 10:04pm On Feb 10, 2006
hmmm...

Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by ijebuman(m): 1:57am On Feb 11, 2006
oh dear this just brings back the memories grin

SOS band - The finest, Even when you sleep, high hopes, Tell me (if you still care)
Terence Trent D'Arby (the guy with the long legs smiley) - If you let me stay
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by nferyn(m): 2:01am On Feb 11, 2006
I'm just thinking of Terence Trent D'Arby's next to last song on his first album: As Yet Untitled (A-Cappella), it allways chills me to the bone to hear:

Out by a shanty where the dust hangs high
Far from a river where things grow green
The flowers weep and they lean away
From the blood stained soil beneath my feet

The thorns outnumber the petals on the rose
And the darkness amplifies the sound of printers' ink
On propaganda page
That will rule your life and fuel my rage

I tried to bend my knees
But my knees were already bent
I haven't stood like a man for such a long time now
I called to my god but he was sleeping on that day
I guess I'll just have to depend on me

Shall I tell my children if they ask of me
Did I surrender forth my right to be?
Y'see my daddy died to leave this haunting ground
And this same ground still haunts me

The cool September blows the seeds away
The harvest blown again this year
But I'll return a stronger man
I'll return to me my homeland
No grave shall hold my body down
This land is still my home

I said:
But I'll return a stronger man
I'll return to me my homeland
No grave shall hold my body down
This land is still my home
This land is still my home

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by ijebuman(m): 2:13am On Feb 11, 2006
forgot to mention 'Let's Go Forward'
'introducing the hardline according to..' was definitely an exceptional album, unfortunately i can't say the same about the second album 'Neither Fish nor Flesh' although it did have one good song 'To Know Someone Deeply '
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by nferyn(m): 2:21am On Feb 11, 2006
Didn't really like his second album either. Third one was good as well, although not up to the same level as Introducing? I especially liked Let Her Down Easy

some real old folks on this post eh? It's good to know that i'm not the only one that's growing old! anybody remember abrams colonel?
Oh oh i'm trapped, like a fool i'm in a cage i can't get out, you see i'm trapped,
or Imaginations 'illusion'.
Then there was the commodores, and don't even get me started on Kool & the gang.
And Hot chocolate! 'papa was a rolling stone'
okay, i think that's enough nostalgia for one afternoon, back to work
Just to know, can anyone tell me if there's a place that still sells turntables and LPs in Nigeria?
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by ababoy1(m): 4:16pm On Mar 05, 2006
Dont know if there are places in Nigeria where you can get LP's and TT's, but LP's are big business here especially Old school Funk and Soul,

DJ's are always on your tail,

@Ijebuman/Bagoma, and the other old school fans, Where una?
Re: A Place For Thirty-Somethings by bebe6(f): 9:35pm On Mar 05, 2006

I sent you an e-mail to your personal e-mail address asking you to send the list of songs again because before I could review the list thoroughly and tell you which songs I wanted, the pms were disabled.
