what is there to love about this show of shame , you are going to be extorted criminally and you say you love it

Dont mind the half illiterate!

DISCOS have been giving Grants, Loans and dashed so much money by Govt, hoping they would sit up but they are so used to "free money" from the estimated billings.
Now, this silly man called Oduntan, who should be in jail for corruption, is acting out and trying to play smart.

Nigerians have a right to electricity supply and if you DENY THEM the supply them because you wont supply unless you can do estimated billing, then you will go to jail, you hear, Mr. Oduntan.

I knew these imcompetent fools in the DISCO were out to sabotage all efforts of govt at ensuring regular power supply but Nigerians are ready for you.
Govt must not renew th license of any DISCO that threatens not to supply power to Nigerians, on account of estimated billing.
The MAP will source for the Meters and pass it to the DISCO who MUST install it at customer premises and supply power to it within 30days otherwise, the customer wont pay and must not be disconnected.

useless discos all they know is to collect what they never earned, discos are used as vehicles for capital flight, PMB should scrap them and regain control, no country outsources its entire power generation system.

Dashed so much money? From where?
The financial statements of all discos are available on their websites and you can go through.
1. The FGN promised to pay the tarrif shortfall for those on R1 category if the discos charge them on 4 naira/kWh. That runs into billions of naira per disco and government didn't pay a single kobo. The discos had to declare the debt bad a few years ago.

2. They also promised regulatory assets from the shortfall between market rate and actual rate since the power is sold to discos too at market rate. Nothing has been done to that effect.

4. There is Nigerian Electricity Market Stabilization Fund(NEMSF) of 701bn that was touted as a grant to all discos. About half of the money has been disbursed. But note that the money was not released directly to them. The FGN paid the money to GenCoS and gas companies for outstanding owed by each discos to the market. Then CBN removes the repayment and interest as a first line charge from each discos account on a monthly basis. The interest runs to over 2bn for some discos per year over the 10yrs tenor of the loan.

5. The FGN has promised to settle the debt of its MDAs especially army formations which runs into billions. To date, nothing has been done. I know a single army formation with a debt of over a billion naira. Who will disconnect them?

To be honest, I thought like most Nigerians before I joined the discos. I gained a better perspective of the industry having worked 4yrs+ as a top finance person before leaving them. The pay is shitty, bad financial statements, they cant source finance, failing networks, hostile customers, high energy theft rate and so many other problems that requires money and regulation to solve. The MAP is a welcome development but, Nigerians will bear the high cost of meters and I bet the MAP people will start complaining once they knw what they are getting into.

Guys, there is no license to renew. Their current license will not expire during buhari's tenure.

Yea, through lengthy legal process. The best bet is a nationalization act from the parliament. I don't need to explain what that will mean to inflow of investment into the country when they see government taking over private property.
The second option is to use existing clause in the license agreement to revoke the licence as most discos have not fulfilled their obligations. But then, they'll simply head to court to prove that the nonfulfillment of government part of the agreement led to their incapacity to perform which should sail through any court. The evidence should be overwhelming unless government pervert the process.
