Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari yesterday said he could not conclude that he would pay the N30,000 new minimum wage. Masari, represented by the Head of Service Idris Tune at the rally to mark Workers’ Day in Katsina, said his government would meet with the labour union on the issue.

“This is a process. We cannot conclude that we are going to pay N30,000 minimum wage. We are going to dialogue with the labour leaders and arrive at a conclusion that is reality to the Katsina state government and the welfare of the workers.

“We have never wavered in catering for the welfare of workers, so the issue of minimum wage cannot be an exception also,” he said.

Workers are not effectively utilized in Nigeria, some of them just earn from our taxpayers sweat and blood, without any services benefiting us the masses.

one thing you seems not understand is that only grade level 1 receives the 30k as per your qualification may primary 6 certification and an increament of 500naria happens yearly and after two years you are promoted but a bsc or hnd holder will be in level8

What most people dont know is that is not just 30k they are going to pay all workers, there are workers already receiving 150k increase will be don to them as well when pile it up it will be running into billions. I am not holding brief for any governor because of their corrupt record but let not just concentrate on salaries and leave the main issues which is developments of the state which benefit all.increase in salaries may lead to inflation when production is decreasing. When there is high inflation they will embark on another protest.

every governor is now undecided if they will or can pay the new minimum wage, but they were the ones using it as election tools to the workers in their states, now a new song is being played....I know it wil come to this. ..Nigeria is just unstable....maybe our forefathers con founding fathers would be crying in their respective graveyards by now

Useless governors and a useless system of government in my opinion. Each state should actually be allowed to set it's minimum wage but there should be a floor below which it cannot go. Has it occurred to anyone that some states may be able to pay 50K as min wage whilst others can only afford 25K? Several factors determine this and this is how a federation of states actually operates. These idiots struggled with 18K, owing several months or paying percentages in some instances, how do we assume this 30K fiasco will end?
