Thousands of Internally displaced People, IDPs, by Boko Haram violence poured into the streets of the Nigerian city Maiduguri Thursday to vent their anger over food and medicine shortages in their camp. IDPs An AFP reporter witnessed about 4,000 men, women and children from the Gubio camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) block a busy highway in the northeastern city and disrupt traffic.

The protesters accused camp officials of diverting aid supplies meant for the 33,000 IDPs from eight districts in Borno state sacked by jihadists. “We don’t get the food and medical supplies meant for the camp because they are usually diverted by the camp officials,” Sani Abubakar, one of the protesters, told AFP.

“We see food consignments brought to the camp being driven away in the same trucks that bring them and we don’t know where they take them,” said 46-year-old Sani, surrounded by a hoard of protesters who nodded in agreement. At least six people died in the camp within a week due to lack of drugs, according to Laraba Buba, another displaced person.

Hunger is real in the country. The IDPs might even be better than those walking the streets. At least, they eat once in a day but I tell you many families in this country can't boast of one square meal a day. That is how terrible the situation in the country is. Meanwhile, others are wallowing in riches, wealth and affluence. Life is not fair. That notwithstanding, better care should be taken of them. I don't think they ever prayed to be displaced. It's purely a product of a failed government as we have it in the country since 1960.

Meanwhile,
Can you help this sister? She needs your help to clear her final year demands especially paying the session's school fees. Pile up of things has thrown her into this state. She needs your help please. The action is regrettable no doubt but it can also be a life saver. She needs to settle for her exams coming up next week but how when she hasn't paid her session's fees and might not be allowed to write? Please kindly come in and rescue her. Reach me on 08148799227. All proofs are on ground. Thank you.

There is poverty in north. Look IDP camps have come to stay.
I remember when I was in NYSC Orientation Camp, the northern graduates never wanted to pass out because of the free food.

Its funny these people sit around waiting for free handouts and food... For how long are they going to be catered for? Another funny thing is they getting married in these camps and breeding babies ooh grin cry undecided

And then you begin to ask how can some people who are in charge of taking care of the needy steal from them and sleep peacefully at night? This country is so messed up

Height of Heartlessness.

You corner food meant for the hungry so u can sell and add a new car to your collection in your garage thereby directly leading to the death of many

How do these people sleep at night? Or is their heart made of stone or iron

When we cheat and become millionaires at the expense of fellow citizens, how then do you want the so called leaders up there to care about what or how we(masses) feel?
Some useless people in charge of these IDP'S are praying and hoping that the boko insurgency don't stop just because of what they are gaining from it.
